Templar Mace. 10% Cure potency can be useful if you're pretty much main-healing on Paladin.

Or if you're getting a considerable amount of hate from Cures alone. 10% potency is equivalent to +10 Enmity while you're curing (as long as you can cure for the full amount), so it ends up being the best hate generator in those situations as well.Originally Posted by Obev

I dunno if this should go hereeeeeeeeee but
How do crafting tiers work? and how do they affect HQ?
I have been on and off with smithing since 05 b/c it was a quick way to make a buck, but now I'm sorta thinking about getting serious but i dunno.

You're right, it doesn't belong here. It belongs in the "Crafting Forum" but I'll gladly answer your question anyways.Originally Posted by Lagunasa

Tier 1: 11 over cap (on all main and sub crafts) which includes Support and +Skill Items.
Tier 2: 31 over cap etc.
Tier 3: 51 over cap etc.
Tier 1 is generally accepted @ 10% HQ rate, 2 @ 25% HQ rate, and 3 ~@50% HQ rate. That being said, on synths where there is HQ, HQ2, and HQ3 it doesn't mean if you are Tier 3, you are going to HQ3 all the time. It just means you have a better chance of moving into one of the HQs. If you are Tier 1 on main, but Tier 3 on the subcraft, you still stay Tier 1 on the synth.
For each subcraft, you can assume about 5% addtional break chance. So for a snyth with a main and 2 subcrafts, I believe you have a 15% break chance right from the get go. (Someone explain this better if you can plz)
I don't know the max window time, but the information on wiki is correct for the placeholders.Originally Posted by Casey_

As far as I can tell, there's a way to cover it up, but not to fix it.
Don't quote me on that, though.![]()
In regards to straps (for GKT, however that may help):
Mythril+1 = Good to have around when you need to pile on extra STR and others won't make as big of an impact (bigger mobs)? Would Axe Grip just be a better choice? I figure the acc would help more than HP+20.
Claymore = Compared to the other grips out there, not worth it?
Pole = looks decent, something I should pick up?
Sword/Katana = lol?
Why does Kirin drop wind crystals, and not earth crystals?
because he's a manticore before he's a blm and smn, and manticores as a mob family drop wind crystals. same reason byakko drops lightning crystals instead of light crystals, even tho he casts only white magic.Originally Posted by Lexa
For SAM I'd go: Brass/+1 -> Mythril/+1 -> Pole Strap.Originally Posted by Epical
Sword Strap: I wouldn't mess with it because it lowers your TP/hit and might affect your #hits to 100tp.
Claymore: Eh.. doesn't appeal to me.
Axe: I got this the day the grips were released.. used it for a bit.. now it's only use is for when I use Earth Staff.

I use Pole Strap personally. On top of Brutal and /WAR I find myself getting DA procs on WS fairly often, which makes me a happy camper. When the grips were first released I used Mythril Grip +1 for a while and that was nice too, but it was one of those things where I could hardly feel the difference.
Mythril Grip = Barely noticeable increase in acc and damage. Meh.
Pole Strap = Every once in a while I'll DA on a WS for uber damage. Yay!
Sword Strap is interesting to me because, given enough Store TP, it could be viable even for 6-hit setups. I think I figured at one point that you would need somewhere around 50+ Store TP total, 15 of that being from gear, which doesn't seem entirely unreasonable. Rajas + Usu shoes + Usu/Askar body might do the trick.
At what point is Refresh > HMP heal or vice versa? (I'm talking bout vermy vs errant body in particular)
Auto-Refresh (1/tic) works out to 3 hMP. Therefore, Errant Body > Vermillion Cloak for hMP. If you have a setup that allows you to switch gear after 19 seconds, you're best off wearing the Vermy for 19 seconds, then switching to Errant.Originally Posted by Kaope
I've noticed that sometimes 19 seconds is too long, and your healing tick will come in before the gear is switched. Don't know what the deal with that is, but I believe I have mine set to 15 seconds, and it works fine.Originally Posted by Byrd
healing ticks seem off in wotg areas, dont know if its deliberate or a bug
assuming normal 450 delay GKT, you would go from a delay of 450 to 437.(ok, 436.5 which could go either way, depending on where the flooring occurs). which is 11.1 TP before store TP. so 51 STPOriginally Posted by theo
as you noted, you can get to 35 naked with full merits, leaving 16 to get from gear.
you would need to wear brutal, rajas, and two additional pieces 5+ point pieces (usu/askar/hachiman/myo+1 legs with a chiv etc.). if you've already got the usu shoes and askar body it'd be worth considering. otherwise it's probably not worth it for sam: primarily because replacing 3% haste on hands or feet with -3% delay reduction isn't worth it.
another note about grips: pole strap is functionally blank for soboro so if you like to use it with any regularity, you'll need a different grip to use with it (I like platinum and claymore, depending on what I'm doing with my soboro)
I would wear the body 18 seconds and guarantee the sixth tick, but that's just me.Originally Posted by Ferien
if you're -really- OC, you can write a macro that swaps the hmp body in for 3 seconds and hit it 2 seconds before each hmp tick. doing this will gain you an average of 7.33mp per 10 seconds, or 2.2 mp/tick.
edit@capo: I've noticed no issues; are you sure you are not lagging?
Mythril +1 for full Tp WC buffed Steel Cyclones
Pole Strap for fashion (it's pretty), and general purpose hitting shit
Claymore with Rampager for Raging Rush spam in Meripo (just a preference thing, makes me happy, though it's iffy whether it's actually better than pole strap, it just feels better)
I'd use Axe grip on Drk, HP and Str for Souleatering shit.
Platinum is nice with Soboro and shit, gotta love it when the Sam stuns a Feather Tickle
Sword Strap is all bad, especially with Store TP gear, as you're blanking out a portion of that Store Tp gear for a 3% DoT gain, sounds nice, but look at what happens.
War/Sam, 504 Delay Gaxe, Rajas+Chiv+Brutal= 6 Hits to 100%
3024 Delay before haste, from 0, til you WS
Same setup, +Sword Strap, 7 hits to 100%, 490~ Delay
3400~ Delay before haste, from 0, til you WS
Naturally that doesn't factor DA since it's same with both (unless you have pole strap on first setup), or TP from WS, which is 18-21 with the first Setup and Raging Rush, 17-20 with the second setup, I believe.
