To be fair, that's a bad comparison. The 2% Double Attack grip isn't just "2% chance of a 50% boost to ws". It's that and a 2% higher chance of a 100%+ boost on "every regular swing" (100% being a double attacked non-crit, + if it crits) + more tp whereas your 3%+ crit doesn't speed up your tp at all.
in context it was the most accurate comparison that could be made. (because context was soboro specifically.)

How does one reach the Hecteyes type monsters in Den of Rancor for the hakutaku cluster eye piece? I don't need step by step stuff, just general directions.

They're by Hakutaku if you know where he is, from paintbrush zone line go all the way south to go to the lower level. Iirc the mobs are million eyes.

What determines the TP that monsters gain as a result of player weapon skills? Otherwiki says the TP return of your weapon, as well as +1 for consecutive hits, but some playing around I've been doing as WHM/BST suggests that the consecutive hits don't matter.

With no Subtle Blow just add 3% to your TP return.

enemies who are the targets of multiple-strike weapon skills will only gain TP from the first strike (first two strikes for hand-to-hand attacks or when wielding two weapons).
I don't think it's been changed since then.

Yeah I saw that but didn't click till this reponse that "oh yeah, double attack doesn't really help 2-3 hit weapons". My bad.

New question: Using Souleater on Jailer of Temperance. If I'm doing slashing damage and he's immune to it, is souleater going to still add to that 0 dmg/hit or does it all get wiped to 0?

I'd assume it would wipe at 0 still considering souleater is still adding damage relative to the type of weapon.

I'm looking for more of a "been there, done that" kind of answer. I'm sure someone somewhere must have tried this.

So yes, Dia II is worth it, it is basically double the reduction. Dia III is ~15% but it is generally considered to not be worth it (Correct me if I'm wrong RDMs).

A question about Subtle Blow gear, does +10 Subtle Blow on a piece of gear = 10% Subtle Blow?

    Shit is situational.
If you are only going to get equal use out of each time wise (ie. 30 seconds for 1 merit in dia3), then if you can justify Dia2 over 1 you should be able to justify 3 over 2.

    5% for 7MP
10% for 30MP (4 times the cost, or 23MP extra for 5% defense)
15% for 45MP (only 1.5 times the cost, or 15MP extra for 5% defense)

If you need dia on for longer than 30 seconds (1 min, 1:30min depending on merits), then sure, use dia2. But for merit parties typically dia3 is good.

Ambiguous wording on the question, but to clarify: 10 subtle blow means the mob gets 10% less TP than they would have without it. 50 subtle blow means 50% less TP, etc.

If you give the mob 15TP per swing normally:
10 Subtle Blow total means it would get 13.5TP
50 Subtle Blow total means it would get 7.5TP

This is correct, in weaponskills mobs only receive TP for the hits which return full TP.

When do average DD capabilities meet/surpass PLD hate holding abilities? I'm 51 so far and have yet to have a party where the DDs challenged me at holding hate.

No I'm not trying to show off saying I have uber hate holding abilities.

    Re: Random Question Thread

I'd say 55/60 when most jobs get their rampage/raging rush/sidewinder/guillotine/yukikaze. It's somewhere around there too where mobs start to hit hard enough you can't completely self heal with refresh / parade / sanction. If you have that stuff I mentioned though and cure a lot unless they're good most people still won't pull it off you.

Edit: just noticed you said average, probably more in the range of 65 for mediocre people, I could be wrong though, I did NIN and PLD in statics >_>
