    Re: Random Question Thread

I hit 70 on NIN recently...

Is Bomblet a significant difference over Bomb Core in practical application? Assuming that I'd be using sushi anyway through 75 and merited Katana.

Arhat's Gi and Jinpachi +1...obviously used in high end tanking, but I don't really participate in HNM/alliance level stuff much anymore. Most stuff I do outside of Dynamis is with 6 people or fewer. Are these still important pieces to have/macro for a well rounded NIN? NINs I do things with rarely, if ever, seem to use them...but there's also an element of personal style with NIN, and they have a pocket BRD (me), an advantage I don't have.

I'm hesitant to put too much in terms of gil into NIN gear until/unless I find myself finding occasion to use it. My last melee job was BST, and suffice to say I put a lot of effort into getting gear that gathered dust.

    Bleh, for an elvaan blm:
    Goliard clogs or Yigit crackows?
I have goliard clogs already and just recently started getting AP for yigit boots, but upon further thinking, it really might not even be worth it (getting really low on salvage AP too).

    goliard's relevant stats for nuking: int+4, macc+2.
    yigit's relevant stats for nuking: int+3, MAB+2.
the question boils down to 2 MAB vs 1 int and 2 macc. without macc being well defined it's a harder question to answer, but let's just examine the difference between 1 int and 2 MAB for a blm 75 using thunder 4.
with all other factors being equal and ignoring the flooring that takes place between steps, the % increase in damage for an average T4 from 1 point of int, assuming your int score exceeds the mob is
(541+dint+2)/(541+dint) which for most reasonable values of dint work out to be about a third of a % increase in damage.
meanwhile, 2 MAB assuming base MAB lvl 4 trait, a moldavite, a weskit, zenith mitts, and an uggalieph pendant, yeilds 32+5+6+5+8=56MAB base so +2 MAB will offer roughly a 158/156=1.3% gain in damage. yigit offers about 1% more damage if my figures are right, while goliard for nuking offers a bit more accuracy. it's a tradeoff to be sure, but i'd encourage you to consider picking up a pair of the yigit if you can. you have the numbers in front of you though, so it's purely up to you based on how much you use it, etc.

    Re: Random Question Thread

I picked Goliard over Yigit. Goliard is a very respectable piece to nuke in. It's also a good feet for enfeebling/dark and the highest hMP you can get in a single piece. The main reason I picked this was to save inventory. I previously used to carry a seperate nuking/stoneskin/resting piece.

Both are very nice pieces of gear. Yigit will be slightly more damage, obviously, but I wouldn't say you need them.

I'd consider what activities you use BLM for. If you solo/manaburn/etc a good amount, then they'd make a nice addition to the potency-oriented gearsets used for that. If you mainly use BLM for events where resists are more of an issue, then you'd probably find yourself sticking with Goliard most of the time anyway.

    Re: Random Question Thread

as a follow up for what the others have said, yeah. if you're thinking about inventory space (i'm a blm main so i just load up on anything that's even situationally useful.) goliard will trump yigit for overall usefulness. the HMP+3 on them is significant and by far the most possible for that slot. the int and macc are very handy and the macc will help you stick your sleeps and debuffs better, though since you're rdm main, i doubt you need it as a crutch. are yigit worthwhile? yeah. probably. you'll get more damage mileage out of them. are they worth busting your nuts over? nah. blm is 90% skill and 10% gear. as long as you're good at playing it, don't stress so much over the gear.

rofl not that argument again, blm requires so much skill, eh?

ill agree with goliard in the long term, but really, gear does make the player, in no way is it a 90/10 split.

i'm just going off the figure that 9/10 blm i've run across don't know that they have or don't care that they have sleep spells. maybe i'm just ranting though. oh well.

Kujata had some really pathetic BLMs lol.
Wasn't really any in between ground, they were either really skilled players, or absolutely horrible.

    Re: Random Question Thread

The search function isn't working for me so I figured instead of creating a thread I would just ask here. (I'm also at work where there's nobody to talk to about this question.)

I'm leveling Ninja currently, and I'm already wondering when I hit the higher levels what weapons to main/off in meripo. I know Senjuinrikio/Perdu is good, but say I don't have Perdu. I am confused on why people wouldn't use Fudo/Senju. I read a long ass time ago something about the crit rates on offhand, but I can't remember what it was. Could someone enlighten me as to why you wouldn't Fudo/Senju? Because they're obviously the highest dps katanas under Kikoku and Fudo has 1 damage over Senju. (keeping in mind you don't have Perdu, I know it adds acc/atk)

    Re: Random Question Thread

Offhand crit bonuses don't affect WSs afaik, so it's basically a case of 3% crit vs 1dmg on WS.

    Re: Random Question Thread

So I assume by the majority of people, that 3% crit on ws > 1 dmg. (btw Hi Thulius) :D

My guess is yes, since it's a 'magic'. Never tried though. However, it's probably such a small increase, that it's not worthwhile. (%'s of single digit damage = lol)

Yes it does, Wearing +INT also helps Ninjutsu damage.
