two quick questions regarding the subbing of thief when playing samurai since the recent patch changed yukkikaze, gekko and kasha to 'elemental weaponskills.'
please bear in mind that i am and have always been a strong proponent of subbing warrior at almost all times for my samurai. in fact, i haven't subbed thf since the patch. but my wonderful marvelous amazing girlfriend surprised me with a sniper's ring +1 tonight and so there are gonna be a few more events im going to be attending as samurai rather than blm provided our shell has ample stuns(khim, cerb, tiamat, dynamis-xarc).
1) does sneak attack still provide a 100% successful hit when the following attack is properly aligned behind the mob? i understood from the update notes that it no longer forces a critical like it once did, which is fine... attack food, a robust str build, hasso, and when im lucky, a brd means that i can live with not a guarenteed critical. but is it still a 100% accurate hit, ie, can i swap my hauby +1 for my osode, my life belt(stupid fomors) for a warwolf, my dusk hands for my alkys(not that dusk has any acc) and my new sniper's +1 for my flame ring? the difference is +14 str(, technically +25, but i swap in alkys even when /war, and shura legs +1 vs. the acc of byakkos is an equitable trade... +16 if that stupid sachet ever drops), enough that it was always worth the sacrifice prior to the patch, but i don't want to be whiffing wses, especially on mobs like khim and tiamat where its med > run in > ws > run out, or in our low man dynamis group where we use light skillchains to help with the NMs.
2) this isn't patch related, but always has been a point of curiousity for me. does trick attack guarentee a 100% accurate hit provided that there is someone(ostensibly a tank, but from time to time, an afk whm who hasn't been hasting me) between me and the mob? i know that only thf at 60 has assassin, which gives the crit, im strictly talking about TA + ws on mobs for planting hate. pre-windower macros, i was so bad about splitting SA and TA that i had a str swap in macro, and then was just SA+TA+ws always, but with my growing comfort with a 6 hit build, both med enhancement pieces, i've become quite adept at splitting SA and TA as a samurai when dealing with tanks i trust. in short, can i use my full str build outlined above when using TA, or should i stick with my /war ws set, which blends the acc and str(keeps on sniper's +1 and hauby +1, swaps shura head and legs from turban and haidate)? i can't remember missing a TA'ed ws in a long time, but i also haven't had the opportunity in some time, so was looking for a definitive answer.
for those of you going tl;dr, lemme 'splain, wait there is no time, lemme sum up(thank you inigo montoya).
1) is SA still a 100% accurate hit when properly positioned behind the mob using yukki, gekko and kasha?
2) is TA a 100% accurate hit when there is someone between you and the mob, or does it simply transfer the hate of said person, and can miss with the same frequency of a normal weaponskill that would be performed with a different subjob such as war or drg?
oh, and totally random... say you were a wild and crazy guy with tight slacks for teh ladies... if you actually bothered to melee full time a mob like khimaira, would a kamiwari parse in any way superior to a hagun or onimaru, assuming you're wsing every 100tp? that's just a curiousity, but real answers to the above queries would be much appreciated ^^a
