Is this a common occurence? In all my years of Dynamis, I've never seen this before. I'm wondering if it's ultra rare or we got bugged out.

wouldn't call it COMMON by any means, but it does happen from time to time. much like statues and eyes can exceptionally rarely drop singles. once i think we got back to back jadeshells from 2 of the demon nms in xarc, but i don't remember which ones. know it wasn't the bst or brd pedestals though, not that it matters.

Is there any way to turn off that stupid fanfare/march music on the character select screen?

I think you can turn it down from the main POL screen under options, and I believe that turns it down on the character selection screen too.

still another ninja question:

Rajas in one slot, which is better? Snipers or Woodsman in the other? (i'm talking levelling, I'm going to try to do the Mermaid quest for the emn+2 ring but again I'm not sure which I'd sub off for what).

as a non-ninja i add the caveat that my statement is retracted if someone else gives a better argument.

my answer would be the usual, "it depends." dark resistance doesn't matter much so it's which is worse: -5 eva or -10 def. def only matters if you get hit directly, rather than a shadow, which your goal should be to avoid anyway. meanwhile, -5 eva will affect you 24/7 since hits are consumed in the order of eva/parry>blink>hp. my inclination is to go with the sniper's most of the time, unless you find you get hit a lot. if you're fighting a mnk mob (obviously, you'd rather not, but you get the idea) the def might be more important to you than the eva. for XP though, i'd think that you can blink most of the hits making the sniper the safer and superior option. take my logic for what you like, my nin is 37 now and forever. ^^

Rajas in one slot, which is better? Snipers or Woodsman in the other? (i'm talking levelling, I'm going to try to do the Mermaid quest for the emn+2 ring but again I'm not sure which I'd sub off for what).

2x ACC rings for TPing, Rajas is meh for NIN TP, honestly. Though some people will disagree with me here, you could chalk it up to personal preference, but the reason I got Sattva over Rajas is that to me it's just a glorified STR ring for WS swap-in. As for which ACC rings, I prefer to go with Sniper's (assuming you can't get HQ) because I'd rather DEF down than EVA down.

Altepa Gate

I checked the Wiki, and I'm still a little uncertain about this.
1-do the columns act like switches and are permaently down (untill the gate is opened or someone else hits it), or are they timed like the levers in oldton ?
2-whats the minimum it takes ?? Obviously this is based on the afforementionned notion that the levers are permanent. I've got access to a taru brd, but I need to bypass those weighted doors, so if I got access to a non-taru (or a 3rd acct), would I be able to open all the columns alone ??

1) Are the imps and undeads in Ashu Taliff BC quest sleepable with lullaby?
2) Wiki says that the mobs will only aggro if anyone uses /atack command, can anyone confirm?
3) Any tips for the BC1-3?

1. I am pretty sure thats a negative but if they do dont hold me to saying they dont
2. On the first BC mobs wont even agro you if you camp on back deck but the NM will agro as soon as someone targets it, so if you plan on trying for star sapphire crate by killing that bastard of an Imp find out the order of the waves before hand.
3. I've only done first one. Nice setup would be blm blm blm puller(thf,nin,pld) healer and a DD. Zone in run to the back deck. puller ranged attacks a mob of each wave and they will all link on him, run to the back as far as you can, blm ga3 the mobs when they are grouped up. 1 ga3 will kill all the crew members and almost kill the imps. try and do each wave fast cause there is alot of waves to do and you might time out if too slow. NM will appear long enough to cast a spell then dissappear. stun will buy you time but not much, he is hard to kill cause of that. The last wave he pops on be careful cause he will debuffaga you fast and you dont want the other imps ancient magics landing after that.

I'd like to point out that the store TP on Rajas along sucks but add in another point of store TP from Brutal or chiv. chain then it would slice off one round of attack to get to 100%TP. As for what is better that's up to you, I just don't want you think that rajas is crap TP.

1)I'm pretti sure they stay as switches until the gate is opened, then they all reset after a certian amount of time. I remember hitting the Emerald switch, and noticing it still down a few hours later.

2)The minimum is 1 Galka WHM. I two-box a taru whm often (I play Hume), and I've been able to solo the gate, and make it inside before the door closes. (I have no idea what makes the door close, but it's not 0:00 as some have thought.) Only 2 columns require a weighted door to be open. One column is on the way to the Altepa Gate. (which doesn't require a weighted door.)

I've tried to open those doors as elvaan + taru and it didn't work, I don't see why taru + hume would...

i definitely opened these with my taru and an alvaan friend last week helping him with quest.

are you sure you were stood directly on the middle circle? also seemed to take longer than i remember for the door to open with just the two of us.

Yeah, but it was a pretty long time ago, at least a year, maybe they've changed it? We were trying to open it for a few minutes, before some dopey galka bst came waltzing by. It was the door you needed to open to get to the worms that drop the item for opo crown quest.
