k...that at least persuaded me not to worry about buying Deadeye gloves, since I'll only really be using bow to skillup, then switching back to Holy spam :D Thanks ^^/

I have (got the gloves too). Pretty simple fight, we had RDM, BLU, 2xNIN and 2xDD I believe (was quite some time ago). The BLU's job was to try to stun the charmga, but it's a fast move and we only stunned a couple (it can spam it a lot, seems pretty random). The only real strategy we had was for everyone to always be within charmga range, so when it did 'ga us, everyone would be charmed and hopefully we'd all un-charm at the same time. I believe it's HP begins to regen when everyone is charmed so the fight can drag out a bit if you catch a few in a short period of time. If someone uncharm's before the rest, they just gotta run/kite and hope they don't get slaughtered by the rest of the party.

Just make sure no one has resist charm gear on for the fight and it's pretty easy. I don't know how well other jobs stuns work, our leader was pretty intent on getting a BLU for that job but idk.

When ChainStunning a mob in a low lag environment(bah 2, kv); does one mash stun right afterwards, wait till the "___ is no longer stuned" message appears. also is it best to use a macro or menu?

ninja tanking JoL. What's the ideal gear set and sub for this fight?

i was thinking nin/rdm for spamming sleep, bind, dispel, blind. would that hold hate well enough? the native fast cast and MDB would be nice. otherwise i have /drk.

I prefer menu, I keep Stun at the top of my magic list, and I just spam like a mad man >_>

    Re: Random Question Thread

Is there any sort of (publicly-available) chart or reference that summarizes the chances of #1. Success versus failure when crafting 1, 2, 3, 4 etc levels below the cap of an arbitrary synth, and #2. the various HQ rates at different tiers above the cap? I know #2 is probably answered all over the place but #1 is what I'm more interested in, anyway. Sorry for asking here but I didn't want to noob up the crafting forums with stuff that's probably been asked more than the skadi feet movement %.

I don't see the foundation for being able to make this assumption (that the Double Attack trait from WAR and "Enhances Double Attack" effect from the Brutal Earring are separate effects) when at least one test has shown that the Double Attack trait alone can affect more than one hit of a multiple-hit weaponskill.

Without being able to determine an upper limit and thus the source of a double attack, you can't necessarily establish that the two are calculated independently of each other.

And if Double Attack can't DA on DAs... isn't it the exact same as saying 5+5=10%?

My main concern is overlapping, I let a couple of tp moves get through on KV, something about having no effect, cost us the darn fight

NIN/RDM works on it, but I prefer NIN/DRK because of the nice hate spikes from Last Resort and Souleater. MDB is nice, but I use NIN/DRK on JoL in small number setups and with your typical magic defense set for 'aga, one lone WHM is able to keep me up no problem.

Sorry, I missed the gear-set part. Here's my gear set for NIN/DRK in JoL or Bahamut R.2:

Main: E-staff, W. Turban, N. Shuriken, Harmonia's torque, double HQ Eris earrings, Arhat's Gi +1, Dusk gloves, Sattva ring, Mermaid ring, Resentment cape, Swift belt, Byakko's haidate, Yasha sune-ate +1

Souleater/Last resort swaps in full Yasha +1

Magic: Behemoth knife +1/Tutelary, some cheap HP necklace, double Merman's earrings, Lamian Kaman bow, Kirin's Osode, Dusk gloves (I need Seiryu's kote), double Merman's rings, Resentment cape, Ocean Sash (there's also that resolute belt but I prefer the HP), Yasha pants (just for the HP and INT) and Marine M Boots (for the HP).

It has never let me down in either fight

he says that he'd probably give up skill for m.acc, I say that he's basically stupid for doing so. and that he uses MP often as a brd, where I hardly if ever, and that I'm apparently a bad brd for not carrying around stuff that I'll never need.

long story short, would m.acc actually matter for buffs or isn't skill better? I'm still always of the opinion m.acc is something that's hard to gauge no matter what job it is and I wouldn't give up say, BRD af1/+1/af2 hands / shair gages or, in mire, give up haste on my feet for a resist silence as he does.

and how would m.acc help with buffs over skill? That makes my brain hurt.
I always thought that M.Acc regarded landing Spells on Mobs; i.e making debuffs that little bit more likely to land, which +Skill also does.
Why would they be of any use on Buffs? Not like the War or Nin is going to resist Minuet or March.

And why not just carry echo drops instead of hoping the Resist Silence might kick in, or hell, I don't know...ask the healer to do it. He's going to be spamming Silena on the other 4 Fuckwit DDs who didn't bring Drops (Whay haven't you people learned by now!?) why not hit the bard up too?

    EDIT:
Having read that LJ thing it seems he's talking about /whm in pt and you're talking about general BRD Endgame/HNM. Sound like a "Generalist vs Specialist" sort of thing. Given the argument though, if Wiki/Theory is correct about one skill level and one M.Acc being close I'd say go for +Skill primarily and use M.Acc anywhere you can't put +Skill.

Not exactly sure of the context, but using an echo drop take 4-5sec of your time because with the medecine lock. In certain situation, it mean a lot since you have to react quickly. Not that I can think of a situation where I would go with resist silence over something else tho.

Regardless of the delay, I'd still say it's safer (And more intelligent) to carry echo drops on you if you cast spells of any kind.

In mamool ja SP/mamook/mire I can drain my entire 344 MP tank with no problem, and I very frequently do so (In Nyzul colibri it's stupid to sub anything but NIN imo; getting lullabied eats your time). I think that anything above 350-400 is way overkill for BRD unless you're main healing an assault or something. You don't need to bring much gear to EXP either, I get the same resists with Walmart/Zenith Slacks that I do with AF2/AF+1 pants, just bring the instruments you use and gear for the appropriate camp/sub.

    Re: Random Question Thread

    Blah, where to begin?

tykkaru_ffxi should be stabbed for even suggesting Goliard hands and not mentioning AF+1. AF+1 if you might get resisted, Sha'ir if you're exping and worried about recast. If he's worried about MP, he should also think about a Loquacious instead of that Wind Earring, and an Astute Cape instead of Jester's +1. He also mentions Byakko's Haidate, but leaves out Swift Belt (I imagine the haidate is for recast). Astral instead of Ether is rofl, also, and if it's a wish list and MP makes you horny, why not go for Serket/Vivian?

M.acc (obviously?) doesn't help buffs. +skill only helps buffs to a small extent; you need a total of +12 singing+wind to cap Minuet IV at 75, and that may be the only buff that benefits from it (Paeon doesn't, and others are difficult to gauge, but probably don't). It probably helps debuffs, but there's not much m.acc gear available to BRDs. I would take the Omega Ring over a +4 CHR ring (and probably +5 CHR), and the Shadow/Valkyrie's Clogs over just about anything (if I were worried about accuracy). I don't want any Goliard.

For my feet, I wear Rostrum Pumps most of the time; I do notice the fast cast on buffs, and it's definitely noticeable when stacked with Loquacious and a -cast body piece. I don't really need more CHR on my feet to land debuffs on 99% of stuff, and I feel even the small Fast Cast compares favorably to 1% haste (since it's also a tiny bit of -recast). I keep around Arborist Nails for fights where I want more -enmity and more HP.

As for having an MP setup...well, eventually you realize that it's about how quickly you can get MP back, not about max MP. I carry around full Yigit, since my LS doesn't really do kings, and it has come in handy plenty of times. I've also learned to appreciate the value of a nice chunk of HP, and MP gear often takes away from that. Rostrums are the only thing I wear on BRD that's -HP, and I don't wish to add more. AF2 pants are hot because they have MP and HP, but I hate giving up the +skill and -enmity.

Honestly, I go /NIN for exp almost anywhere except the mire, and I don't really exp there If I did, though, the Ataractic Solea would be the feet to get. Someone from my assault static has them, and when he was leveling his BRD with my NIN (we did a lot of small parties on imps at the BLU solo spots), I noticed he resisted silence I lot more than I remembered doing. Every little bit helps...before I got my Loquacious, I'd resist sleep sometimes from the Antivenom Earring alone.

How important is Lu-Shangs for serious fishing? I got a Lu-Shangs as a gift from a quitting friend, lent it to a "friend" and he quit without sending it back. How important is Alch/Wood for repairing rods? I have leather at 100 so its not feasible for me to bring them past 60.

It's very important if you want to get your fishing past 60ish. And it helps greatly prior to 60 too. It is possible to get by a long time without it but why take the Greyhound bus to get to your destination when you could be on a private jet, if you know what I mean.

Besides the fact that Lu Shangs is hard to break, another advantage of the rod is that it can catch large and small fish equally. It really helps when you are fishing in a location and with a bait that has a chance of catching large and small fish. If you ever were to break the rod then you can have an NPC repair it but it's a hassle to do it if you are breaking frequently.

In short, serious fishing requires a Lu Shangs.
