I'd probably still use homam. 3% more haste vs. 2% more damage is an easy decision to me. (3% haste will generally be more than 2% dot increase.)
but if you think you could get them resold, it might be worth trying them out.
heh. actually, i've 75 whm/blm/rdm/brd/smn. career mage here, just toying around with which job to lvl next since i'm pretty much out of mage jobs at this point (blu is getting close to done and the spells for it are just SO damn irritating sometimes...) drk wouldn't be something i'd main a lot, so the odds of me walking away w/ a BZ are something on the order of my succeeding at panning for gold in my shower. as such, i was trying to toy with the possibility of pulling off a decent, mostly AH drk build for fights where blm are not so hot at. since i'm not sporting any homam whatsoever at this point, unless i can concoct some crazy solution to all the missing haste, like the flagellant's rope, i'm just not going to be able to make any of the crazy souleater builds work. might just go w/ sam instead since it still does decent damage even w/o top notch gear. toothpick GKT taru ftw! thanks for the input though.
you really are a candidate for an OC drk then actually; especially since you basically want dark specifically for melee zerg fests (things blm isn't good at)Originally Posted by Spekkio
Octave Club is ex, campable (although a bit of a hassle it *is* free) and you're level 72 so you don't need homam. (you use dusk instead)
then if for some reason at a later date you got a BZ or kclub (I'm assuming you wouldn't make an apoc over a horn if you were to find the gil for a relic). you could finish up to 75.
bingo. i'm just not sure i could get the balls up to camp LoO as religiously as needed. an LS mate of mine did it for the OC and i'm STILL making fun of his ass now that he has the damn thing. there's a lot of options out there, and maybe i'll come up with an OC at a later date, but for now, i'll just pick something fun and different to lvl next. could also try pld as we're always short on them...somehow...Originally Posted by Amele
oh, and spot on about the relic. about halfway thru silver stage atm on horn. WHY!? WHY do so many relics worth making have to use bronzes? if only it could use bynes! *sob*
Actually, you didn't, lol. You posted some numbers and offered nothing by way of what the numbers mean, so if you were trying to prove something you weren't trying to prove it to someone that didn't already know.Originally Posted by Amele

ok. fine.. one -more- time.Originally Posted by Swampthing

ok. let's go over this again.
a high end haste setup for dark is 20% (can get 25% with drk/drg..but I'll exclude that since it's not common)
so a kclub dark has 20 haste + 43.7 haste(magical cap) = 63.7 total haste
vs
20 haste +43.7 haste(magical cap) + 15(Desperate Blows) + 10(hasso) = 88.7 total haste for the Bahamut's Zaghnal.
kclub delay is 264
1 - .637 = .363 (net remaining delay)
264 * .363 = 95.8 / 4(average swings per round) = 23.95 -> 24 delay per swing average.
BZ is 480 delay.
1 - .887 = .113 (net remaining delay)
480 * .113 = 54.24 / 2(average swings per round) = 27.12 -> 28 delay per swing average.
4 delay difference. for ... more than double the D:#(BZ will hit for more than double the kclub pre SE and yes, it does add up.), 100+ free attack, 90+ free accuracy, and 5 strength.
better now swampthing?
yeah actually that made sense, thanks, now he just has to get one :D
now I want one :\
What are throwing weapons classed as Piercing? Or dose it very from weapon to weapon. I am trying to lv nin to 75 *currently at 56* and want to help make my pt's kill faster. Seems like spaming throwing weapons will help some.
I had always assumed they were all piercing, although now that I think about it, a piercing pebble or boomerang wouldn't make much sense![]()
Yea i am curious if there is many different types via different throwing weapons... but if mnk h2h with huge sharp pointy piercing like blades can be blunt who knows....
or chakrams or...basically everything but shuriken and needles. Time to go throw shit at se apollyon mobs. But on the other hand, these being a damage type other than piercing requires the same logic that says pickaxes should be piercing, halberds slashing, punching daggers piercing, ws's with obvious piercing motions (savage blade) to be piercing...Originally Posted by Woozie

the weaponskills are always the predominant type for their weapon class though.
Yea sadly I am in a Limbis static and wont be doing resist for a while...not like i could land on them anyway though my skill is 72 atm but I was skilling them up just for birds hoping the nin line of throwing weapons were piercing. If anyone gets a chance to test this out or knows for sure what throwing weapons are what it would be great to know for sure.
I think what he's saying is that I can't just assume pebbles and boomerangs aren't piercing based on intuition alone, or else halbreds would be slashing, etc.Originally Posted by Amele
I did something with a boomerang once that made me think it was piercing, but it wasn't anything as conclusive as throwing at JoT or limbus SE
About DRK earrings, I went Suppa and I kinda regretted it. So I have the choice between Brutal/Ethereal or Brutal/Fowling. Which would be better?
Which is better, an earring with 5 atk that replenishes MP when you get hit and has +HP for souleater... or an acc earring.
Come on now...
Haha, I didn't see the replenish MP thing to be that useful. Usually, I try to get not get hit (shadows/third eye/etc), and if I do get hit enough that the replenish MP is significant, then... well, something is wrong. As for HP, I see your point.Originally Posted by Ryko
Originally I just looked at it from the 5atk vs 3ACC and 1Str point of view but, ok, guess I'll go ethereal >.>
well, you're still going to get knocked around by the occasional AoE and if that would do say 300 damage to you, that's 15/21 MP you need to cast a quick drain and heal yourself w/o spending the whm's MP.Originally Posted by Daemeon
