Each side from the entrance has it's own benefits. The left side (as the above poster said) has more aspirable mobs. The right side has a safer zone (the left you have to click on the door to exit).
Right side as a ninja, and he wont let you zone either. ;/

I'm quite aware that it truncates to the nearest tenth internally (that is, 4.17 tp is 4.1 tp for game purposes)

as you'll note, the display is in whole numbers only; what isn't clear (I was fairly confident, but ferien has made me unsure - and I trust ferien) is how say, 13.8 is displayed.

I was under the impression that it would display as 13.
ferien's anecdote only 'works' if it displays as 14.
regardless of how it displays, the internal (exact) value, is 13.8.

I'm going to do the test now. edit: 13 tp return!

also, I did the math wrong above - delay is halved, not tp return, so it's 5.3 for the 391 delay dw2+suppa.

Don't worry about it. It was my mistake. Just went out and checked it, it's actually 13, don't know why I remembered it being 14.

    Question!

Full STR merits for my WAR or full INT merits for BLM?

Edit: both will be used equally-ish.

Because the weaponskills are considered properties of the weapons. Like how "Occasionally Attacks Twice" in not autotranslated. At least that was how someone explained it to me.

Tried /translate. Does not work. I'm not sure if you can auto-translate Relic Weaponskills at all due to: (see above post).

    Seems reasonable enough.

Here's one that drives me crazy: For elemental ninjutsu debuffs and ancient magic spells, they sort of transfer the element of the spell to the mob, weakening it to the opposing element. If you cast Quake or Doton, the mob becomes weakened to Wind. Can somone explain to me why a threnody is different? Say I cast Earth threnody. I understand it weakens the mob to earth magic, but it would seem to make more sense if it were a lightning-based spell. It's not, though. It's a wind-based spell. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe it's just another case of "that's just S-E stupidity" but somone please enlighten me.

To make it easier to land them. If earth threnody was lightning or earth-based, it'd be very much more difficult to land on things that are strong to earth, which is presumably why you'd need it in the first place.

whereas doton or quake are meant to confer elemental weakness as a side effect, rather than their primary effect.

    Re: Random Question Thread

Right, but you're weakening the mob to earth-based magic. All throughout the game, "weak-to-earth" = "lightning-based," with the exception of threnody. I guess that's why I'm having trouble understanding the logic behind it being a wind-based spell.

    Maybe I'm over-thinking it?

    Re: Random Question Thread

I usually think of it as using one element to dominate another in the target.

Actually, I wish I was more skilled at coordinating Threnody usage within a non-BLM party. Mob elemental weakness, mage merits and gear, you need to know your guys pretty well unless you just want to go back to default settings.

    wind is strong vs. earth.

because the primary purpose of Earth Threnody is to weaken earth resistance, it's the element that is *strong* vs. earth.

you're not conferring the element of the spell as a secondary effect (which triggers regardless of how much damage elemental ninjutsu or AM does).

you're actively attempting to weaken the elemental resistance of the target - and the element best at weakening earth is wind.

for the metagame logic: wind type makes it easier to stick since you're mostly using it on earth based mobs.

From what I understand STR has diminishing returns vs. most mobs once you get enough (and it's easy to get a lot from gear on WAR)? whereas INT really does not from what I've seen (always increases nuke dmg). I could be wrong but if you're a serious BLM I'd lean towards to INT merits, I think you will get more out of them in the long run.

    Re: Random Question Thread

depends on what you mean by diminishing returns.

if gaxe war, you'll get the full effect of the attack bonus until your buffed attack is in the area of 800+ (and over 1k against some hnm)

you'll get the strength bonus up into the 150's vs most hnm too (sometimes higher, a rank 8 weapon takes in the area of 60 dSTR to cap, rank 9 and 10 are higher)

likewise with int, eventually you'll cap it out - at about the same point (varying based on target) so it's really down to which you prefer.

due to the less random nature of spells, you will probably 'notice' +int more than +str without a parser, however, so you might get more satisfaction out of that.

    Re: Random Question Thread

Since amele rules at formulas and stuffz, I have a question for you :D

How much STR & Attack do I need to be at to maximize the use of a DMG: 103 Weapon? (I think you know which I'm talking about lol >.>) and how exactly do the "ranks" work with weapons? Is that off the base dmg? Thanks for the info ^^ If it's possible to explain the formulas I'd appreciate it too but I'm not great with them for stuff so numbers is fine too.

999 STR 999 attack. There, your maximized usage of D103 weapon (well ok... I went overboard with the STR)

Your other basic questions can be answered on wiki

"diminishing return" has become the word I hate as much as "DoT" now.
They have lost their initial meaning due to overusage

    Re: Random Question Thread

    vzx wins

(to answer your question in better detail, we'd need to know what you're using it against. 103 is going to be rank rank 11, so it's going to take 72 dSTR to cap fstr. likewise with attack, you continue to grow cRatio up to 2.5, which has a raw ratio associated with it, which varies according to the page that VZX has written on the wiki - which he linked in his post)

although I disagree provisionally with your statement VZX, I haven't yet seen positive proof that attack for pc's can't exceed 999 (and simply fail to display correctly), so until I do, I can safely argue that you would need ~3000 attack to guarantee sufficient cRatio versus all mobs. :-"
