We don't play this game because it's better than all of the other MMORPGs, nor because we hope that SE will one day fix it's errors. We play this game because 1) We have developed a persona on it and have social ties to others inside the game, and 2) We have nothing better to do.
Then no one would be able to capitalize letters, and that would give me a tremendous headache. X_XOriginally Posted by Demitrius

Or how about complaining about CoP missions for being hard/long, then complaining about AU missions for being the opposite?
Seriously. If you aren't satisfied with the game then you never will be. Most people think they could make Updates better than SE, but try doing it in a way that wouldn't break the game and at the same time, would keep the moaners from moaning?
I wish I could be the idea man behind the updates, I would pwn hard.Originally Posted by Sasarai

Square-Enix: "Hey guys, we cured cancer."
Players: "Yeah, but it's not a cure for AIDS."
Unless an update detail is lol to the degree of fish ranking, there is no reason to complain until the actual update is released...
Hi, limbus, happy medium's exist. Instead of making mobs that are somewhat "difficult" to kill (see. proto-ultima, hell I'll even throw in LBC as a decent example) they throw in fake difficulty instead by limiting drops you need to function or creating pop nm's that... dont pop... but yeah, it's a double-standard and not just a commentary on things that could stand to be looked at. If Wafik says it it's A-OK because really it's just an objective view on things that could probably be tweaked. Someone else? Bah, to the cross with him.God, can people just be positive for once in one freaking update. Anyone want a hug?
I sure hope the "relic-level" includes stuff like the Yigit set and possibly even abjuration gear but I'm not getting my hopes up. Could just be a translation thing. Anyone wanna translate the announcement on the Japanese homepage?
Reading threads like this where people bitch and complain makes me wonder what goes on in Japanese forums similar to this one.
I guess i'm lotting BST hands next Xarca and throwing away my BST Hands+1
but yay for relic storage, this'll make many friends of mine happy.
Oh and ya, all our warriors also have thieves levelled, and they come to generally everything as thief, not as TH whore. /shrug, we can make thieves work I guess.
That would be the case, if you didn't make a blanket statement about progression in the game entirely. People still whined about lack of progression when they introduced Limbus, because surprise surprise you had to actually finish CoP to be able to access it. At the time noone was really bothered enough to put the effort in.Originally Posted by Ryko
What you are saying is, you want more harder fights but less complications. Less strategy, more cave-man "hit it with a stick" style of gaming. Don't get me wrong, if thats how you feel then fine, but taking the route of making things DIFFERENT to a standard "easily burnable" by KC DRKs and whatnot approach is in many peoples opinion, refreshing.
Personally I enjoy Salvage.
No one said a thief wasn't functionable in a HNM fight wafik. We throw 1-2 at most mobs too, but it wasn't the "dagger buff" that did it, that's for sure.
We dont axeburn HNMs (I'm like one of 3 people in our shell who show up to any HNMs whatsoever on warrior), we dont manaburn HNMs (we've had more 1 BLM kills on faf in the last week than we've had kills with more), we sure as hell dont kraken burn HNMs either (even I dont own one of my own). Pre-requisites are an extentuating circumstance that say nothing of the actual activity itself. There is zilch wrong with limbus, actual limbus. If someone wants to bitch that COP missions are too hard, fuck em, that's not the issue at hand. There is actual difficulty, and there is feigning it because "oh we just wanted it to be a minigame, not an end-game alternative". t(-.-)z Salvage was potentially awesome (and y'know what? I'll give room for me to be able to bite my tongue 4 months down the line when they up some drop and pop rates), limbus is actually awesome.Less strategy, more cave-man "hit it with a stick" style of gaming... What kept IRON together was friendships. As those people that I enjoyed playing with left for whatever reason, I lost my reasoning for playing FFXI. I love the game, the game has so many complex levels to it, and when you've done everything there is still choco digging.
With that said, I just feel that game has serious bottlenecks that need to be fixed. 3 Kings, Sky. AV needs to be a real HNM that has a way to kill it that doesnt ninja change every 6 months, and there should be a way to pop AV that result in a "chance". Does SE realize that like 12 people, maybe less now can kill JoL, and most people dont want to wait around in case of AV. We would like to be able to pop AV with the correct jobs around.
Maybe they thought AV would a gobal HNM that people would have to team up on, and than enjoy /random the loot with people who didnt just spend 4 weeks farming pop items that arent 100 percent drops. That is what drives me crazy. One of the reasons I left the game was the interview about the new HNMs in Treasures that dont drop anything but useless craft items (Hydra). In the interview when asked about it, they said on the players wanted more HNMs we gave it to them...... No the players want more HNMs that would draw people away from the 3 Kings. People want to log off in a different zone before maintainance.

New missions being added? That's not news of course they're going to advance the story like every other update. What i want to know is, are they something i can just complete in another 4 hours time and then wait another few months for the next lolmissionupdate?
At least with CoP it felt like i accomplished something. Treasure missions difficulty are a joke. If there is anything in the end that's worth it, guess who'll you'll find there in no time flat, RMT.
Th updates listed are minor changes. They're good and nice, but still minor.

We're playing FFXI, we're not playing a slot machine. When we kill JoL, we don't want a "Chance" for AV, and when AV pops, we don't want a AV that one day is good and killable, and one day is impossible.
We want to enter Salvage Arrapago and get magic cells off the lamias at the beggining(they're currently a 25% drop rate. My last Salvage, after 5 kills and almost 1 hour later, we finally got a single magic cell). We don't want a "Chance" at a magic cell, which will let us progress higher. If there's a 5th floor, we should be able to get there efficiently, not struggle to get there.
Perfect thing in last patch was Bhaflau salvage, the others weren't thought out completely.
Perfect thing in CoP was Sea, in theory we have NMs that can not be monopolized no matter what you do, however where they failed was loot pools and non 100% drops on useful items.
I'd hit it.
On topic: Wafik's right. Sea would be great, if you could, say, ALWAYS get either a torque or virtue (and sometimes both) rather than a 20% chance for one of them. And also, remove Temperance from the game and make him a force pop with some organ or something. That tower bullshit is the worst shit ever. >=(

I completed COP in 6 days <_< (not counting promies and stuff since we hit that like as soon as it came out) it really wasn't even hard, just annoying with all the stupid running around you had to do (nothing changed in TOAU about that). The fights leading up to the end were difficult, but rightfully so. There's a big difference between Ultima/Omega and Mission Khimaira."GOD COP MISSIONS ARE SO FUCKING HARD I HOPE NEXT EXPANSION THEY REMEMBER HOW FUCKING STUPID THIS SHIT IS"
