Qiqirn nm on the 3rd floor has an undetermined drop rate, certainly not 100%.Originally Posted by Therin

Yep, in a perfect world you could EASILY do it. Regardless of the sheer lunacy of doing salvage every day, you have to assume you're getting the correct drops each time. Day 1 and Day 2 I'll agree with you that it's plausible, since those drops are simple. People still aren't even sure if that Qiqirn NM drops it, and if it does, it has been killed many times so the drop rate definitely is not 100%. Possibly 10-20% like the other Lv35 gear? So let's say, "Day 3-8 ) Get screwed on drop rates until you get Deimos's Cuirass" and then you have "Day 9-12) Kill LBC and keep getting screwed on drop rates because of LBC's large loot pool until you get "Phobos's Cuirass"Originally Posted by Therin
Your 7-day plan for an Ares's Cuirass seems great though! In fact, I think you should take this theorycraft to heart and report back here in 7 days with a screenshot of you in Ares's Cuirass. There's a reason why only one has been confirmed so far across all servers. And also, most of the groups doing Salvage have tons of people that want this piece, but they still don't have it - 2 months after Salvage has been released. It's so strange that with so many people going for it, only 1 person has it. Especially since it only takes 7 days to get one.
Thanks. ^-^Originally Posted by Mattthemaster

Bitching, moaning, people bitching about people bitching, speculation, and infinitum. I think from now we should use the same thread for all updates, not like they change much anyway.
Hence why I said "if you have a linkshell willing to cater to you." My point is, it's not hard to get some of the Salvage drops. Others take more time, but as an example you could easily get an Ares body in a short time with enough dedication.Originally Posted by Rancid
I'll admit I didn't know the Deimos was such a low drop rate (I figured it'd be ~50% rather than 10-20%, if that's in fact what it actually is). Either way, though, even with that adjustment, getting an Ares body in two weeks rather than one week seems more plausible.
Even then, getting a piece that strong in two weeks is very fast, especially when you consider that the other pieces comparable to it could take two to six months, maybe even a year (Adaman body, Koenig body, Valor Surcoat), due to competition in zones and/or horrible drop rates.
So many people often forget that Aht Urhgan's missions are split in two. Assault and CS missions. CS' are heavy on story, and lite on fighting mobs and BC's. Assault is heavy on fighting and encounters, and lite on story. Two sides of the same coin imo. People saying that the storyline missions are too easy should look into Assault missions.

Because there's no "glory" in it, because players find level caps demeaning, and finding 12-18 players that aren't going to blow it off to do something more "mature" but ultimately less rewarding is virtually impossible.
The old game is not broken. The old gear is not broken. It's just that the majority of players today have the attention span of an amoeba and want Square-Enix to fix things that aren't broken just so they can equip something different, which, in the end, alters your play experience about as much as eating a Grilled Hare would as a WAR75.
Go level a new job or something. If there's no other jobs you're interested in leveling, shut up and quit. Square-Enix knows better than to continue updating the game in an attempt to please people that will never be pleased no matter what they do.
ugh
ryko can't level a new job
(he's allergic to mp)

I don't want hard and tedious missions like we had with CoP (meaning level caps and missions where you have to bring like 30 consumable items collectively within your group). I just want more content so that I can't finish the set of missions in a single day.Originally Posted by Gwynplaine
I agree with you on Assault, though. I think everyone should try to get ALL of their Assaults cleared. Let's just hope SE actually gives us a reason to do so.
So having fun clearing the assault is not reward enough? :/Originally Posted by Therin

Assault has equipment prizes. Not to mention items to sell on the AH.
I think there is clearly some tweaking to be done in Salvage. Personally, I'm pretty happy with Silver Sea in addition to Bhaflau, but does seem like Zhayolm and Arrapago need some tweaking.
One of the reasons that Salvage seems unrewarding right now is because there is so much that is not yet known (and way too few people willing to spend the time trying to figure it out compared to the number of people that will hop on the bandwagon once more finished pieces start coming out). It seems to me that once everything is figured out, you shouldn't have too much trouble averaging 1 Lv. 35 piece or 2 Lv. 25 pieces every run (depending on what goal you are aiming for). I'd estimate that you could average 1 completed piece every 2-3 runs, which really isn't that bad compared to Ultima/Omega, especially if you consider that in many cases Salvage gear outclasses every other piece of gear that you can put in many of the slots.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned, however, is how fun the boss fights are (you know ... remember that thnig called fun?) They're challenging, and significantly different from just about any other fight in the game.
doesn't he have drk? <<Originally Posted by rezn0r

I'm genuinely sorry that youre so short-sighted that you're incapable of accepting the fact that your ass (regardless of what jobs you take to 75, regardless of how many you take to 75) will eventually spend time staring at darters if you want gear (for either yourself or those people you genuinely enjoy having around) beyond level 20 INT/VIT +1 pieces. If that is ok with you then yeah, brush it off and say SE has it completely together.
Grats, you're one of the 2 dozen people across 33 servers that actually do garrison, have a cookie.
It's an old joke that I'm allergic to jobs with MP, yes DRK was my first 75 and PLD was my second to last but I'm pretty much just a melee guy.Originally Posted by Eanae
These are mentioned in reference to "new missions," but what're the chances that the missions just tie new HNM to the game's storyline and we have ToAU "kings" done right this time? I'm not counting on it, but no one's really mentioned this possibility yet. I suppose every update people hope for new mobs with worthwhile loot pools to uncrowd the king camps, and yah it's been beaten into the ground, but I bring it up because it's worth considering... again. I'm not going to hold my breath, I'm just saying it'd be nice to finally see.Originally Posted by Spira
Someone mentioned before that if CoP had been done "right", there could perhaps be more progression as newer LSs start at Sky and graduate to CoP etc. The same could be said for Earth Kings as a starting point for LSs to move on to ToAU kings. No one seems to pay much mind to mobs like Gulool Ja Ja because of the lack of worthwhile loot, but here's to hoping they get it right (or take a step in a much-hoped for direction) this time around...
Ryko, I think you should level Bard. Nothing made me laugh more than during that Dynamis - Windurst when someone mistyped "Hershey Bar" as "Hershey Bard", and North said "Ryko's a bard?"![]()
