Does anyone know of a place I can watch this now since youtube got owned?
Thanks :D
hahahaha I love Joe Rogan
finally got around to seeing this vid, wow, that was hilarious, "Ned" got owned hard, loved that part at the end where the other comedians were agreeing with Joe about him, lol.
Lmao indeed. Ned got worked, and all he had to say in his defense was random cuss words. Disappointing, but funny (laughing at him, not with him).
Dane Cook sucks almost as hard as Mencia. Just because he didn't steal his jokes word for word like Mencia or Robin Williams (The most notorious joke thief until Joe Rogan brought back the inquisition) doesn't change the fact that the essence of three of his jokes was lifted from a single Louis C.K. CD.
Speaking of Louis C.K., his standup is among the best around. Pity that his show sucked so bad.
I think it's funny that every comedian you say that has stolen material I find incredibly funny. Such as the newest example, Robin Williams.
Robin Williams was so notorious back when he was starting to take off that people would end their sets when they saw him come into clubs. He's even rumored to have told a joke, word for word, that he'd stolen from Ray Romano on Letterman once the day after Romano had told it.
I'm not surprised that Dane Cook fans find Robin Williams' standup funny. Yelling and flailing your arms is just hilarious to some people.
stealing jokes goes completely against comedy, if you give me a script of richard pryor, i could go into a club and make people laugh their asses off. Its not the person, its the material, if the material is good, it doesnt matter who tells it. Do you really think these hollywood actors are actually funny? Sure you see a romantic comedy with Hugh Grant or whatever, and you may laugh, but do you really think its him thats funny, or is it the situation and the dialogue created by the writers(material) thats funny? Sure the actor has to portray the humor, but if you strip the situation down completely, as in stand up, and you tell the actor to make an audience laugh, they will struggle.Originally Posted by Lbelle

Hence why Rogan says he does good with other peoples material and called him a thief. To be honest I think he does fucking terrible even with other comedians material. A "super fence"? That sounded so stupid and unoriginal, you can just tell he stole it.
Mencia claimed ownership of the video :O
Rogan was banned from the Comedy Store (the place where this occured) due to the video making it's way around. The word was out as of yesterday:

Delivery is a bigger deal than you guys are making it out to be. I'm not defending stealing jokes, and I don't think Mencia is funny. But some people can make anything funny because of their delivery, i.e. when Norm MacDonald explains his own jokes, normally a taboo, so funny when he does it.
Rogan is an amazing man. He deserves a medal.
This dark under belly of comedy kind of made me uncomfortable... and seeing how both the parties reacted was somewhat distasteful. Couldn't they have settled this dispute in a manner suitable for gentry of their stature?
LOL
Bleh, that's lame. Ya'll should read that article though - what he says about The Comedy Store is very cool. That place is really awesome - they have 3 rooms for performers, and often the best stuff (and stuff so bad you leave knowing, for certain, that you could've topped it) you'll find from the no-names in the Belly room. I've been there...3 times I think, and seeing standup live like that, in what is a pretty intimate setting, is a really priceless thing.Originally Posted by The Blackrose

On the other hand, if you're saying that just telling someone else's jokes, without regard to presentation, will not have the full effect, then you seem to be contradicting yourself.
One question I've always had though, is what differentiates stealing someone's jokes from two people coming up with the same joke independently? Take the fence one in the video for example. The Ari guy pointed out it was in the news, so what's to say the two of them didn't just come up with two versions of the same joke?
Probably because if you have a well-known track record of "independently" coming up with the same jokes as other comedians, people are less likely to give you the benefit of the doubt.Originally Posted by Foustian
