In the flashback, Itachi defeated Orochimaru with his Mangekyou Sharingan. Then when you see the scene of Orochimaru attacking Sasuke, you can see the same thing happening to Orochi as what happened to him earlier in his fight with Itachi. So I'm pretty sure Orochi lost to Sasuke.

Itachi uses Mangekyou against Orochi and owns him, also taking off his arm. Then when it goes back into real time, you can see that Sasuke is also using Mangekyou on Orochi as well. At least that's what I assumed since there was the same effect done on Orochi from Sasuke as there was from Itachi.

"make-a-wish" foundation on line one, sasuke doens't have mangekyou. you should read the chapter again, after orochimaru reminisced about his attack on itachi, he was grinning and said "those eyes will be mine now, kekeke." we don't know if he succeeded in taking over sasuke, but he's far from the loser that you want us to believe.

Actually I did reread it, and it seems that he does not have Mangekyou. But he did use the same power to fight Orochimaru as Itachi did.

Just because he says his eyes are gonna be his, that doesn't mean it's true. What I believe more is when it says "It's happening again." in the box right before he says the eyes are gonna be his. And I don't think he's referring to him taking the sharingan again since it never happened in the first place.

Although I don't like Sasuke, I do believe that he has surpassed Orochimaru and would be on par with Itachi. Being able to use learn Genjutsu, use Chidori on your whole body, manipulating chakra like he did, being able to supress the nine-tails. Pretty impressive I'd say. But I guess we'll have to wait and find out.

fair enough. my take is that the flashback revealed what motivated orochimaru to go after sasaku the first place, attempting to obtain the supposed ultimate "container".
