How has moons eye not been Madara's end-all goal? Everything Madara has done since he got rejected by Konoha and turned evil has been towards the plan. Kishi has even gone out of his way to make Madara a sympathetic character twisted by the ninja system, the cruel emotions of loss and his own supreme arrogance furthering the credibility of the Moon's Eye plan.

All of the twists and turns since being revived have been entertaining for Edo Madara because everything has ultimately been heading in the direction of pew pewing the world with his Sharingan and he's always been an arrogant prick even way back in those flashbacks. Even with eternal BFF Hashirama on the battlefield, all the ninja clans teaming up against him and that pesky Obito Uchiha he's been chill because Madara has godlike powers but he needed that Rinne for his plan.

So either we'll get a counter-twist (I'll just control the Juubito directly) or Madara will just become like every nihilistic villain that just wants to reduce everything to a void.

Obito getting punked by Minato and then Naruto rescuing him and Sasuke was badass though.
