"Started"? They've been doing that the whole time the show was on the air. Remember the first fight against Zabuza circa episode 7? They showed the whole clones -> shuriken -> zomgcloneshuriken sequence like 3 times in one episode.

I didn't even think of that...that'd be kinda crazy since it would actually make it so Orochimaru completes his long time goal.

I'm kinda interested in how Orochimaru is split atm, though. Clearly he was partially in Kabuto, and clearly he has come out to fight from Sasuke. Did Orochimaru get split up? And in what way? Is he just now in both forms and we have two Orochimari's? Is Kabuto merely doing some genetic experimentation?

For the last chapter, I think it's a better ending than some other random jutsu from either one of them, or someone interrupting the fight (since an interruption would still let Sasuke keep his brother obsessing hatred and he'd just keep training for another 3 years to beat him...kinda lame) and it's really not that surprising. It was always said the drawback of the sharingan was major chakra usage, Itachi used the two huge advanced Sharingan moves in a row, had to avoid and got hit by counters and summoned/used some of the most powerful forces (that we know of) in the narutoverse. Itachi was never known for his endurance either, just being really fucking powerful so that most don't even get the chance to run him dry of chakra. When we first saw the mangekyou in action in Konoho, he did that one move to Kakashi and was tired...that move takes less chakra than the two he threw at Sasuke in one fight back to back, oh and didn't he use that move first too? I think both were represented well, Itachi fans should take solace in the fact that Sasuke only won because he was doped up on Orochimaru's power, giving him even more endurance than he normally has (which is a lot anyway).

I don't think its a bad ending, and well, I called it lol. I'm wonder whats going to happen with orochimaru too, they keep showing the snakes slithering around, so it could be quite interesting.
