I hit chapter 440 last night.

I had stopped watching the anime around the time they had the break and told more of Kakashi's backstory. Overall I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

All caught up. I was hoping the battle would have ended before I got there.

I was kind of expecting that all the bijou were going to fuse with Naruto in some fashion.

So I was thinking of this randomly... Why is Hinata's sister not in the slave house of the Hyuuga? Neji's father had to be in the slave house since he was the 2nd born twin, shouldn't Hinata's little sister be there too then as the second born? The marking would have been done before it was apparent that Hinata had no talent. And the rule can't be exclusive to males because Hinata was supposed to be successor as the eldest.

Have we seen any branch members with the mark that are female? Also, I could easily see a pass being given for hanabi since Hiyashi knew that Hinata was weak from the get-go.

The rules of the family make no sense. For Neji it made sense since he was born of a different father. And it also only seems to be male. Because skill alone doesn't make sense since Neji is pretty much the best of the Hyuuga.

From what I remember, the Hyuuga main house is based on bloodline similar to a royal line of succession (first born child). So that explains why Hinata's father inherited control over Neji's because he was the first born between the twins. That would suggest though that Hanabi would have been automatically branded as part of the branch house for being second born. It shouldn't matter that Hinata was talentless.

I don't know how the male vs. female interaction works though. To me, it would only make sense that females aren't branded if the line is passed by males. But we know that such isn't the case. So if females can inherit the line, why is a twin brother branded but a sister not?
