I think if Itachi were really dead there's be a caption or sidebar that says something like, "Itachi Dies!" Its not the author's style to have a hugely major character die then beat around the bush about what's happening for a couple of weeks before mentioning if he's really dead or not.

I'm glad the fight is over considering how gay it was getting, but fuck that. Seriously, fuck that.


Now unless that white snake that was slithering around (there was still one left, right?) is Orochimaru and somehow takes over Itachi's body, this manga is a fucking joke. Or if they explain why Itachi was in such bad shape (Zetsu said most likely something happened to him for him to be that fucked up).

Naw I think Amaterasu consumed the snakes and I'd rather just let Itachi die as he did. I don't want to see him come back as a zombie/host for Orochi or Pain.

Edit: I think Tobi/Madara had something to do with Itachi's condition since he was so confident in Sasuke.

Well it seems Itachi was planning on doing the same, he did get cocky by calling Madara a former shell of himself. I'm pretty sure Madara saw right through this too. Thats just my assumption though.

Something tells me Itachi didn't even really want to take Sauske's eyes. Instead of taking Sauske's eyes, Itachi just poked him in the head like he used to do when they were younger.

Thinking on that, I wonder if Madara caught him in some genjutsu that made him think the Uchiha clan was attacking him, and thus he wound up killing them in some false sense of self-defense. Might explain the final poke as even if he did try to stay in Konoha and explain himself, it probably wouldn't look good.

It doesn't seem to consume his chakra to stay active, it was still around after they were both completely out of chakra. So why would it matter if he was alive or dead?
