I'm confused, didn't the Sage say that Kaguya was his and his brother's mother, and they defeated her?

then why, throughout the chapter, does he refer to Kaguya as "their" (Indra and Ashuna's) mother? Or is it a classical tale of incest and their grandmother is also their mother? You know, to "keep it in the family"?
