well, madara flat out says "oh, he has awakened the rinnegan." and the juubi eyes look like that because madara was controlling it; think back to when he and whatshisface with the half body both controlled the 9-tails; he had sharingan eyes.

The Juubi's eyes have always been like the one Sauce now has, before Madara and as far back as when the sage defeated it and became the jinchuriki of it. Always a Rinnegan pattern with Sharingan tomoe over it.

Both the second-to-last and last panels show Sauce switching on a Juubi eye (with tomoe) instead of the usual concentric circles that denote Rinnegan. And it's only one eye, like the Juubi's single eye and sages third eye. Is it a mistranslation on Madara's part? symbolic? Fuck if I know. All I know is it's on.

Weren't the Bijuu parts of the Sage's chakra? If that's the case, isn't the Sage able to just give him access to all their chakra?

Yeah iirc the very first panel ever showing the juubi had that sharinnegan combo eye, so it's definitely more than your typical rinnegan. Who cares about the senju bullshit required at this point, izanagi required both at one point too and that was retconned for convenience sake to where Uchicha's were apparently spamming the ever loving shit out of it.

Surprisingly, Madara has used very little Genjutsu so far (has he even actually used any since being brought back?), whereas Aizen's schitck was all illusions and shit, wasn't it? Albeit, he didn't use any against Ichigo

i wouldn't consider it surprising, actually; sure, he has it at his disposal, but currently, even itachi said that the Sauce's genjutsu was legit, and naruto with all of the beasts with him is simply not getting caught in it. And if you remember, his plan was to use genjutsu on the entire planet, lmao
