I dunno, seems pretty fucking obvious. Spend a fair chunk of the manga citing that the ninja world is cyclical hate that even J-man himself couldn't solve. Obito, himself, became a victim of circumstance, subsequently brainwashed by Madara, who probably comes off worse than Sasuke for his logic in doing stupid things over his life. Seriously, he had effectively reformed the ninja world with Hashirama, making it a less dangerous place for its youth, only to have a little bitch fit because people didn't like or trust him enough to become hokage. So, he goes on to fulfill that prophecy, essentially planting the seeds for the present even if Kagura pulled a bit of a Jenova there with black Zetsu and manipulating eye users with the tablet layering.

But yeah, Naruto forgave Obito, in large part because he chose to do the right thing in the end and help instead of hinder. And even if Obito hadn't helped them, he was still a victim, no matter how much we might want to downplay a dash of PTSD and Stockholm fucking with a young teen's mind.

Could just summarize as

Naruto is Ninja Jesus. He is literally the Ninja God's son reborn, and his plan to end all hate on Earth is to just turn the other cheek.

But Madara constructed the whole Rin scene to mold Obito into what he needed; if it wasn't Obito then he would have just used some one else from the clan. The whole point is, the Uchiha are fucking whiny emo cunts.

Could this alternative have gotten as far without the Kamui? Hell, the world itself could be a lot different if Naruto's parents didn't die that night because of Obito. Danzo would also probably be the replacement big bad, given his meddling is only second to Madara's when it comes to shit happening in the plot with Orochimaru coming in third.

Sure these events wouldn't have happened the way they did if we throw "what if"s around, but Madara and Zetsu have proven their tenacity when it comes to the moon eye project. It would have happened one way or another, in any timeline I'm sure lol.

Eh, Madara's window of opportunity seemed pretty slim there. He seemed near-death when he claimed Obito, which is probably something we can't say he staged. Obito then needed time to recover, even with Senjuice, and then the eventual watching Rin die. Add some hyperbolic genjutsu training and it seems like he croaked soon after, assigning his eyes to chibi-Pain with the whole hail mary of reviving him later on. Could he have dispatched a Zetsu or twenty to abduct another Uchiha? Maybe. Itachi and Shisui would've been too young at this stage, and from the sounds of things, most Uchiha were just scrubs anymore, some not even being able to activate their eyes.

In all likelihood, his best Plan B probably would've lied with Orochimaru, but at the same time, Oro being who he is totally makes him untrustworthy. I guess the Zetsus could've tried to steer Pain alone, but at the same time, Konoha itself is left stronger, even if it may have technically led to a weaker Naruto despite all the reincarnation BS. It's actually kind of fun to think how things might be different. Would Oro have attacked the Leaf if the 4th was alive? This would also mean Tsunade wouldn't be the 5th, and thus still wandering around gambling and getting plastered. Jiraiya's circumstances could've also changed, leading to him maybe not dying alone in the Rain. Oh well, we got what we got.
