I really need to sit down and really try to read One Piece. I've tried multiple times now because I always hear nothing but good things about the story, but the artwork is so hard to overcome.

Just do it. It's still much more entertaining than either Naruto or Bleach and has no sign of stopping any time soon.

One Piece's story is much better in my opinion, but to each his own. As long as you don't complain about the art in OP but like FT cause the style's the same.

I still consider Naruto my favorite "universe", but One Piece is the best overall manga of all time, not just my opinion, but pretty sure it's defeated Dragonball in sales, though part of that can be contributed to Dragonball making manga more mainstream, I suppose. I didn't get into the manga until I was a fair way into the anime, so couldn't say if the powerful parts of the anime are as strong in the manga, but what hooked me was the end of the Nami backstory arc, and most others say it's once they reach the Grand Line that it starts to get good. So it's a pretty slow start as I think we're talking episode 30ish and 60ish or something anime, so yeah.

It's decent. Real shit hitting fan stuff happens in Shippuden though, so don't expect much in the early series. There is quite a bit of Friendship is Magic sprinkled here and there, what with the overreaching plot of Naruto and Sauce.

I couldn't get into One Piece namely because of the artwork, same for Fairy Tail.

Sauce was too busy being emo to think about being in a relationship. Sakura's bizarre devotion to sauce despite every retarded thing he's done has by far made her love for him seemingly stronger than most others in this series. There's alot of pannels of it too. Go tumblr that shit. The SasuSaku fans have made billions of collages for that.

I'm just mulling the whole thing. I just find it hard to buy Sauce all of a sudden breaking his icy relationship with Sakura for any other reason other than needing to pair off our heroes. Sakura has had the most onesided relationship with Sauce from day one. Naruto had shounen oblivity till Hinata confessed to him but showed that he might fall for the distant admirer especially after Pain.

Lee has crushed on Sakura throughout the series even if Sakura thought the guy was a weirdo. She's also reciprocated affection back, even if just as a friend in turn. They seem organic, SasuSaku does not.

But here I am expecting Sakura to have moved past Sasuke but why would I expect anything other than disappointment from the worst character in the series. Silly me, expecting so much from Sakura after getting so little. And shame on you for suggesting I watch those shitty AMVs.

As for my mulling, it's just that. I'd have rather seen LeeSaku but word of Kishi is law until he farms out the series to 3rd party that turns Naruto into a series about black star dragonballs and Naruto becoming a kid again.

With something as long as this though, I'd just burn through the manga as quick as possible vs watching all the anime

I plan on doing it. It's worth it imo. I actually didn't pick up the manga from the beginning. I picked up where the anime got too fillerish around the Saksuke defect era.

All the other kids share physical characteristics of both parents (except Bolt, strangely..). Salad doesn't look to have any characteristics of Sakura and she has the same expressions as Karin.
