Damn Kishi, right back into it, eh?
Damn Kishi, right back into it, eh?
What happened to that Yakuza-themed manga he demoed a while back?
After years of questionable plot devices, I'm not sure I want to jump on his new train. Maybe if it was another universe, but the same universe after the crisis we had in the last ark? What problems can this spoiled brat have that out does anything naruto and co had to deal with over the last 5 years alone? We've already seen how OP ninjas can become, how entertaining is watching genin level stuff now after everything we've seen? Especially if his dad is around and the tailed beasts are all friendly now.
I'm just weary of another "little boy saves the world" manga/jrpg. I'll skip this one, but I'll make sure I finish up the non-filler parts of the anime.
I'm going to be pleasantly surprised if it was just a manga that's more ninja school life than ninja shonen. With no major wars left to fight, Naruto and Sasuke being Gods among men, and the age reset being factored in it kinda makes sense.
The villains will be Orochimaru and Hidan's head sewed onto some other ninja's body.
Even that would be annoying. We've already seen what the charismatic loudmouth prankster role is like in the Ninja Academy world. It'd be like watching the Simpsons future episodes where Bart = Homer and Bart's son = Bart. We've seen it before.
I enjoy Kishi's work, I just either want something brand new or to see more closure and side information than simply giving 1 panel for each non-team 7 character for the chapter wrap-up and go straight back into another loudmouth 9-year-old screaming his way around town because that's what Shounen lovers in Japan eat up.
I dunno, Kishi: challenge yourself. Don't go for the low-hanging fruit.
Little did you all know the black star tailed beasts have been summoned and Boruto has 1 year to seal them all or the ninja world is kaput.
I thought this was just gonna be like a short mini series? Is it a new full blown serialization?
Sasuke will grow a mustache and sport a flat top.Little did you all know the black star tailed beasts have been summoned and Boruto has 1 year to seal them all or the ninja world is kaput.
Believe it.
Gotta also remember that Naruto was originally aimed at like young kids. I can't help but think that despite that generation being much older now Kishi will target his new series to a new, younger generation (kind of like how the manga is about the new generation)
Every shonen is aimed there. Doesn't mean I have to root for the beginning of each new series to feature a loud toddler who grows into a loud teenager.
And that's my point. Expectations should be non-existent. If you haven't been enjoying it for what it was already, then why try to force it or complain now?
Yeah, I did too. And now it'd be boring if either dad could just pop in whenever they wanted and fix any problem to manifest other than young people problems. Just look at how weak every one pre-timeskip was compared to the literal gods that are around by the end of the series. How do you escalate to that level while still having these kids around? That's assuming he hired a team of writers to not eye-roll me to death this time around, cause towards the end the series did suck in that department, and the only reason any of us stuck around for as long as we did was because we needed to see the end to the series we started as kids ourselves.
I don't imagine it'd be hard to have Naruto take a "we can't just step in for every problem, we need to let our kids grow up too" approach and let Boruto take on small missions (things like Naruto's first mission). But, there'll definitely be a problem once things start to escalate -- as soon as things start to get bigger than simple cases, Naruto would almost definitely step in..
Or maybe Boruto will get tired of living in his dad's shadow and go the missing-nin route.
Fuck this. If it ever happens I hope the manga fails miserably. The "Sasuke route" is the worst fucking thing possible. Anything short of Naruto dying early in the series relegates every disaster to "How long until Naruto shows up?". It's all a consequence of how OP he made characters in his last manga.
There are ways to keep Naruto out of the picture--basically any method used to keep Hiruzen from stepping up for every single problem.
Naruto'd probably realize the importance of letting the younger folk flex a bit, as well as assigning older, more experienced shinobi to assist/lead them where necessary. Naruto and Sasuke would probably make big appearances in global threats, much the way the five kage did. Even then, it's possible to trap them, the way the Sound Four isolated Hiruzen and Orochimaru at the climax of the invasion arc. That could take them out of the picture long enough to showcase others.
Trapping the third doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment, all things considered now.
Much as Sakura willed herself to keep up with Naruto and Sasuke, however, she's still pretty much leagues behind. She might be roughly equivalent to Tsunade, give or take, but Tsunade relative to the other kages doesn't paint the best picture of jutsu versatility or combat effectiveness. The Raikage is probably their biggest potential opposition, but if the whole world peace angle was achieved with the alliance, this leaves any real threat being an unknown splinter. And I find it hard to believe such elements wouldn't have been recruited by one side or the other for the war, particularly through being killed and reanimated if they wouldn't comply.
Much as I hate to defer to DBZ, you've basically got Goku and Vegeta... then, like, Krillin all the way down to Yajirobe. The reincarnated sage bros simply are the gods of shinobi. Their biggest threat? Tuberculosis. Believe it.
