Hard to say who awakened Obito's eyes. Early on in the manga it was repeated pretty frequently that you had to actually kill someone close to you to activate them.
I don't know to be honest. I strongly believe Kishi confused himself throughout the ten plus years of manga over sharingan shenanigans and lore.
At first it seemed like that was the big lore for a short time. But Kishi eventually shifted this into a "the Uchiha's are all super emo and their stronger and stronger emotions cause their eyes to transform". Meaning any sort of traumatic event would give them their Sharingan/it's evolutions. Which fits given the times Sasuke's Sharingan unlocked and when his tomoes increased and when he eventually unlocked the MS. Even Saladbar's most recent activation of her Sharingan was a result of her strong emotional desire to see her father.
Edit: You're referring to Mangekyou. Which again fits. Itachi unlocked his when his best friend committed suicide. Obito when he saw Rin die. Sasuke when he learned about why Itachi did what he did/when Itachi died. Madara being the exception given that he apparently killed his best friend to unlock his.
Also, I believe the "You must kill your best friend/someone closest to you" to activate the MS was something Itachi told Sasuke early on.
Given that Itachi's mastermindedness is only second to Hizashi's, we can assume that (even if Kishi did confuse himself) he was deliberately saying that to drive Sasuke to an extreme to activate it.
Does itachi return in the new naruto?
Yeah you guys are right. Or at the very least make sense lol. Thanks for the clarification.
Also appreciate the team chiming in on the sharingan shenanigans.
I'd go with this as an explanation. Itachi was trying to force Sasuke and Naruto to fight so that Naruto would power of friendship Sasuke.
I believe the kill your best friend thing is also valid, though, as that would certain fuck with your emotional state. If strong emotional states cause evolution of the Sharingan then.. well.. it fits.
just speculation, but page 14 on mangapanda - he grabs her arm and slides his hand down and there are markings on her shown in the last panel
I don't think it's unreasonable to think there might be something more to it based off the context of zooming in on it in the last panel and the location of the characters, but I suppose you're right
Jesus fucking Christ. The anime is right back to filler mode.
The kill someone close to you was the shortcut method since it was actually the emotional trauma that sets it off. Lots of Uchiha opted to go for the shortcut which is why the clan was known for having an exceptionally bloody history. Your fellow clansmen were as big of a threat as your enemies.
Eventually it got to the point where the clan forgot it was emotional trauma and thought it was the killing that triggered things. By the time Obito was around they had forgotten what even causes the initial awakening since Obito gets teased/shamed for not having a sharringan yet.
Did you watch The last Naruto movie, movie did not meet my expectations! It could be way better
