I agree that the 3 element is not a cap, there are simply just up to 2 elements that someone has an affinity towards and even then I'm not sure whether one or the other has a stronger affinity. I'm sure managing to go past 2 is extremely difficult though otherwise the Rinnegan would be pointless, there's some sort of catch to learning over 2 that we're missing here because as it stands Kakashi can use many and that's not including the genjutsu and such he can do.

Also, there are Light and Dark chakra nature elements too. When asking about Genjutsu Kakashi/Yamato mention this. So there are more elements that just Wind, Fire, Water, Earth, etc.

Still, even though it was clearly explained to be a bloodline by Kakashi, I'm honestly not convinced. Has there been any other bloodlines that skipped generations? I doubt, being a descendant of the First, Tsunade would willingly not take advantage of the bloodline. I honestly couldn't think that something like that would just "wear off" throughout generations.

The Hyuugi clan. Neji is far more skilled than Hinata. It's entirely reasonable that some bloodlines are not passed down, as it is certain they're not passed down at the similar strength each generation.

Always saw this more a matter of drive and possibly gender than Neiji's eyes simply being better. He basically grew up a mini-Sasuke in terms of wanting to beat the main branch, while Hinata was literally just a shy girl who happened to be going through some ninja training as a side effect of who she was born as. So, while Neiji might be better in terms of martial arts and tactical prowess, I'd say their eyes are potentially even.

i don't think he's talking so much about the strength of the eyes as he is the hakke rokujuu yonshou move neji can do. i forget if it's a bloodline or not, but during the chuunin exams (i think) when neji and naruto are fighting 1 on 1 in the arena with everyone looking on, the hyuuga guy is shocked that neji's able to perform that move, said it was only passed down within the royal family i think? my memory's a bit fuzzy on that part.

Yeah, Hinata's dad said that Neji fully inherited the bloodline abilities when watching the fight vs Naruto.

But don't count Hinata out yet, she came up with her own version of 64 palms - and we havn't seen much of her since the timeskip

She came up with her own version of the 64 palms...in the filler, and thus is either not going to be used or Kishi will have to give her that move in the manga lol.

I love Hinata, my WoW character is named after her, lol. But I'm not going to be betting on her being a super fighting force anytime in the manga. She looked scared/freaked out a bit much in the post-timeskip manga for me to think she'll ever get much of a spotlight from Kishi again, we'll see though.

Sorry I'm late to respond, but while I agree with what you're trying to say, the Byakugan is their bloodline. Hinata has it, therefor it wasn't skipped. Who's better really has nothing to do with their eyes. Itachi's eyes were arguably more powerful compared to Sasuke's, but that doesn't mean Sasuke was skipped in the genetics of their bloodline.
