Even if Sai was a Mist orphan (isn't that Kabuto anyways?) his "brother" is someone he worked with in Root. I don't think it's at all likely that it's Suigetsu, especially since Suigetsu makes mention of his actual older brother in his conversation with Kisame.

Well, it's all just my speculation anyway. Not like the past few chapters were anything we expected, anyway, so at this point I wouldn't really dismiss the idea. I just find it hard to believe they would have focused on Sai's "brother" for as much as they did without there being any significance to it whatsoever. Foreshadowing, people, come on.

before i saw all the other posts, i thought people thought suigetsu and sai were brothers cause they both act gay rofl
sai is still weird with emotions and gets too close to naruto from time to time, and i noticed a bit of jealousy or whatever whenever karen was sasukeeeeeeeeeee with sasuke so i thought thats what people were getting at lol

Regarding the recent talk about how Kakashi unlocked Mangekyou, I think this chapter opened up a bunch of more options. Madara said that Itachi forced Oro to come out just so he can kill him to release the cursed seal as well as unlock Sasuke's MS. This basically says that the Sharingan user doesn't have to be the one who actually kills the best friend. So, there might be some merit to that whole Obito theory.

I also find it interesting that Sasuke, at this point, considered Oro his closest bud and no longer Naruto. Wonder what Narotu would think if he heard that? Probably wouldn't give a shit and still do his usual I'LL BRING YOU BACK SASUKE.

the way I read it, removing orichimaru from sasuke wasnt what was gonna give him MS. Itachi dieing is what was going to do it.

It's not having to lose your "closest bud" but losing someone that is close to you. Orochimaru was inside sasuke, his chakra was apart of sasuke's, his being, his mind, even his abilities. Orochimaru was rmoved from him, he lost what was closest to him. Itachi dying could have also awakened it I guess, but oro would still need to be removed first, considering in a sense itachi is also close to him.

I've read a ton of different translations and even messed with it myself, going way back to when it was first mentioned by itachi they did say something similar to your best friend, and now they are saying something similar to someone very close to you... It's kinda iffy on the writers part but thats what we have to deal with. It would however give Kakashi many more ways to unlock his as well, so it's safe on their part, now everyone has MS.

As for Itachi dying for him to gain MS, no, I don't think so... in fact I don't know how you could read it that way with how they paneled the oro stuff. Killing itachi straight out says that by killing him and avenging the uchiha clan he would be recognized as a hero. Sasuke is a deserter, he caused alot of problems and possibly caused the death of some of konoha's ninjas. Now that he killed one of the biggest threats to the village, they might look at him differently. It's for his sake, itachi died so sasuke could have it better and rise above.

[spoiler:2hmlqxwh]If what Madera said is true why would he go against everything his brother believed in? Seems like a poor excuse to set up a Sasuke vs Naruto fight. If anything instead of destroying Konoha why not just kill those he blames for the decisions ie: Danzo and the councillors.
