He and his brother (the 2nd) trained them, yes. But I don't know if there is any instance of them actually being a team. It's more like how Tsunade trained Sakura, even though Tsunade was the 5th when she did it. The two were never a team, but she still found the time to train Sakura

People talk so bad about naruto himself, and I can see why with using only the same abilities over and over again, only having a huge chakra pool and being able to go berserk and lose control of the kyuubi to get him out of situations... and while I really want him to learn new abilities such as teleportation when he gets the key and all, is anyone forgetting that he is semi-immortal? He has an insane recovery rate alone with injuries due to the 9tails, but the kid has had some mortal, fatal injuries throughout the manga, and has been able to literally come back to life every time because of the fox... I think that's pretty important and going to come into play alot more with his adversaries now being pain madara and atomicsasuke lol. Yeah, it's plotkai, main-character-manga twists that of course he can't die, but that kinda stuff is pretty amazing and important, could you imagine if that kind of chakra/power/healing ability could be turned around and used in some other form then just growing the tails?

On the contrary, the 3kage was most definitely Hokage at the time he led his team. According to chapter 123 he was named as Hokage when he was still a kid, but he was definitely an adult when he was their teacher. After re-reading that chapter, it seems it's the same sealing technique the fourth used on the nine tails. So how come the fourth couldn't just seal the nine tails in a clone of himself like the third did with the souls of the first & second?

I guess it's got something to do with the fact that the 1st and 2nd were already dead, so extracting their souls was easier / less dangerous than using the technique to kill Orochimaru or Kyuubi.


EDIT: Or maybe, if he had done it that way he would have died after cancelling the shadow clone. I recall that when Naruto cancels his giant clone army he gets the cumulative tiredness of all of them.

I think because the nine tails is such a massive beast that even his chakra leaking out can hurt people. So sealing him is harder then it sounds.

I got a feeling naruto is gonna find out his father was the forth and the village will tell naruto that sasuke clan summoned the beast. So it will be a fight like omg you guys made my brother kill my clan and naruto will be like omg your clan made my dad sacrifice himself.

But of course we all know sasuke doesn't stand a chance against naruto unless sakura tells naruto not to kill him. Sasuke lost the cursed seals that even let him stand a chance against naruto in their fight and that wasn't even naruto using all his powers.
