I personally like Sasuke, but I do agree that his fights are usually pretty lame, and I honestly wouldn't mind seeing him lose a fight for once.

Well, at least compared to the other characters in Naruto, I like him. He arguably has the most fleshed out backstory, which to me gives a bit more sympathy/liking of him.

But I still like Neji and Shikamaru more.

This is why I like Shikamaru. He was litterally written a speech in which he says "We're not about to waste two chapters with Naruto blubbering about death and memories, get it over with in a few panels and let's move on with the story arc.

That automatically makes him the best character in the series. He's anti-filler :D

Well, the reason I like Shikamaru, at the risk of sounding corny as fuck by saying this, is that he is a lot like me (barring the intelligence). I'm lazy and nonchalant about anything that could be considered serious. The fact that he's not very strong or powerful as a ninja, but fucking intelligent and calculating is a lot more appealing in the manga compared to other characters.

Neji, I like him because in pre-timeskip his fights were always amazing whether it was anime or manga. Also, I saw an AMV thing a long time ago with him as the focus, and it made me like him that much more because of how well it was done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv9y43O4BhE

Shikamaru also knows he is not the main character so he doesn't seem to care or act like he has plot armor, but he actually does.

neji is cool but still kind of flat as a character to me; it'd be nice if they gave him a bit more panel-time. shikamaru is one of the best characters in naruto, easily. for someone who isn't necessarily a main character, he's gotten a lot of time and development in, and his basic character/personality is great, plus I agree his fighting style is way cool.

I like 8tails a lot; wishfully thinking I hope he can fill some of the void jiraiya left- being a kind of over-the-top personality and really powerful fighter.

The anime is full of shit, I'm trying to understand why they would make such a bullshit episode. We all know naruto is gonna give his sad story about being alone and how no one loved him and shit but we also know he wont go 9tails on sora ass for two reasons.

1. Sakura is there and hes afraid to hurt that cunt again.
2. He never goes ninetail mode when shikimaru ino and all the others are around.

it may look odd, but he's fucking sasuke up so he must be doing something right.
