I said a while ago that when pain attacks tsunade will probably die.

It just fits.

He took out the guy that named the 3 of them Sannin's, and the other 2 are already dead. If shes going to go out, this would be that moment. It doesn't get more epic for her than to confront the enemy that killed Jiraiya, I mean come on. Revenge for her love <3 If she were to die later on, no matter how they did it, it would make less sense and wouldn't be as meaningful or as good as it would be now. Pain will kill her, and I like the idea of kakashi living and becoming hokage.

Some people in this thread seem to overrate Pain wayyyy too much. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Tsunade did die during this invasion, but if she gets offed by a single Pain body then the author is a moron. Tsunade should have similar strength as Jiraiya did, and Jiraiya would've outright killed Pain if he knew about his secret. This is Tsunade up against a single body, and one she now knows the information about how his powers work. I don't see how this could end in any way other than that Pain body winding up as a grease stain on Tusnade's fist.

I hope that the whole Konohamaru thing continues off panel only to cut back to him in trouble in a couple of weeks just as Naruto comes back to save him. That's that only way I can see it working, unless Gai's team saves him.

Yeah, I'm leaning more toward Tsunade winning, but it's a toss up depending on how much chakra she's dispersed with the slugs and how much she's been able to store up again after using her reserve in the fight with Orochimaru long ago. At its simplest, I see her simply overpowering his gravity effect with sheer brute strength (the whole 5 second thing seems pivotal), but we'll probably get a couple chapters of backstory on this body, too.

I disagree. Like all Akatsuki we've seen fight so far, he's got some kind of gimmick or weakness. Just, in this case, the storytelling's been pussyfooting around in actually telling it. He's basically Kakazu+1 in the sense he has multiple hearts, or in this case, bodies. More I think about it, he's kinda like the evil equivalent of Naruto, what with bodies sharing info much like clones do when they poof. He just does more than Rasengan everything or act like a goof.

His personality's been rather one-dimensional and with what little we technically know about his past, it's hard to both cheer him on for the sake of progressing story, or even hating him just for being the bad guy. He's been about as lame as rapping Bee was, really, especially with the whole "Here comes the pain!" line. Though, that may have been a translator liberty.

Don't really see much merit in killing some old ninja who may have been the shit back in the day, gang-banging an aged Jiraiya, and then roughing up a bunch of nameless Konoha fodder or lesser named ninja. Yeah, it sucks he beat Kakashi, but he hasn't exactly painted a portrait of invulnerability, either. The fact he's done what he has to Konoha so far reminds me of the absurdity of the 4 filler ninja in the Sora arc. They were at least 4 different minds, though. And Yamato scored a pretty awesome kill with the head splatter thing.

Fact of the matter is, up to Pain himself, Jiraiya was one of the strongest ninja in the Narutoverse, that can't be denied regardless of how old he was. He survived Naruto when he was flipping shit in four-tailed mode, I think that's a pretty good indication of just how much he could really take. And using the amount of bodies used to take Jiraiya can't really be a factor, either, it's pretty iffy to assume that was the first time he's ever went against a group of ninja at once.

I think she's at less of a disadvantage than Jiriaya was. she was the medical ninja of the team. jariaya/orochimaru were the attackers for the most part. they have a much wider array of ninjitsu. all we have seen Tsunade use is brute strength and healing techniques. if she tries to melee Pein he'll just send her flying back with his ability and she only has 5 seconds to recover from that and attack again, but seeing as how Peins repel ability is strong enough to destroy buildings, I'd say she's going to have to rely on something else for aid in beating him.

Yeah, agreed about Tsunade, Souj. It's different for guys like Orochimaru and Jiraiya (who are both incidentally dead...) to win a fight like this with their wide array of jutsus and what not. Tsunade on the other hand for the most part is a hand to hand fighter with the ability to amplify her fighting ability with her medical jutsu. That's why I look at Sakura as just a younger version of Tsunade.

Anyway, yeah. That's why I don't like her chances too much.

Well, think of it this way... they are ninja and have all their little kunai. Throw one of those at her strength and not only would it likely be faster, but Pain would no doubt have to use his ability if he couldn't dodge. Repeat as needed until he's a pin cushion.

Though, you could replace the kunai with anything she could get her hands on, possibly including other buildings if desperate enough. Up until now, we've probably seen the least of her abilities, and it's not like Orochimaru didn't pull out new tricks in each of his fights. With her, though, she knew him, and likely figured going head on at full throttle was the safest bet. There are also other little medical ninja tricks like the chakra scalpel we've seen Kabuto use, etc..

Honestly, I don't want her to lose, in part due to the same boobie lust that has me liking Rangiku in Bleach, but if she does bite it, I at least want it to be a damn good fight where Pain barely gets out with that particular body or at least outright recalls the others to help take her out (which may save Konohamaru, even).

yeah, but how often is she going to be able to catch him off guard enough that he couldn't just dodge a projectile? I doubt hes the "leader" of Akatski just cause he has control of 6 bodies. I'm not saying Tsunade doesn't stand a chance, but it's not going to be easy for her.
