Surprisingly nice chapter. Can't wait until they finally reveal who pain really is and how he got his power to become so powerful. I am not sure there is anyone on par with pain in terms of power level, array of techniques, master planning.

Nothing makes me happier then Tsunade calling naruto strong, and discrediting pains chances of getting a hold of the kyuubi.

First Kakashi says naruto has surpassed him, now Tsunade is saying he's strong. Jiraiya calling him the child of prophecy... being son of a hokage... Sage mode. Fuck you sasuke.

Naruto still hasn't even had a proper fight 1 vs 1 yet, which makes me even more excited. Against Orochimaru, he went 4tailed super quick, and later against Sasuke, he was injured. Against Deidara, he never really went 1 vs 1, he just chased him around and got what? 2 punches in? Against Kakuzu, Naruto already came in a little worn out, not at full potential (not to mention his technique only being 50% completed). And then against Tobi/Madara, it was 8 vs Tobi.

So when he finally gets his 1 vs 1 fight against Madara or Pein or Kabutorochimaru or even Sasuke, or whoever it is, he's gonna be a badass

I don't know...I still feel like they're still keeping the gap in their abilities kinda wide. Yes, Naruto's gotten a lot stronger and yes, he's perfecting sage mode, but Sasuke's been owning mad bitches with his little crew (though Killer Bee fucked all of them up but good). Also, the last time Naruto and Sasuke met, the gap between them still seemed HUGE, so in my mind, Naruto won't be able to hang until he can form a bond with the Kyuubi like Killer Bee and really take advantage of all that power.

I think the gap is largely due to the fact that while Naruto has raw power, it's rendered almost entirely useless against Sasuke's Sharingan which can read an opponents moves and effectively dodge/predict them.

Naruto has a few advantages but Sasuke can trump them all, theoretically, with his Sharingan. There's a reason the Uchiha are so powerful, their Sharingan is extremely OP. (Kakashi even attempting to count the number of cuts inflicted by Naruto's Rasen-Shuriken should be a good recent example of the Sharingan capability).

I am excited for Naruto though, with Sage Mode he becomes a much more durable sand bag and can be even more effective in his "rush" tactics. However, the real excitement for me comes in knowing that he's finally perfected the Rasen-Shuriken and now has a long range technique. Having a long-range technique will really put Naruto in a good place, especially since it's so powerful. He's got the close-range Sage Mode and the long range Rasen-Shuriken.

All he needs now is the key and whatever that does and we've got a totally new character who we should be able to expect new and exciting things from.

naruto needs to learn the 4th's "body flicker" thing to get him anywhere close to being able to land a blow vs the sharingan. if you recall their first fight, naruto was a lot faster than sauske when he went 9 tails mode, but he was still able to block it all until he went 2nd tier 9 tails.

Actualy, all ninja in the cartoon can "Body Flicker" (a technique that uses a small burst of chakra to enhance reflexes temporarily). The real name of what u mean is the "Flying Thundergod Technique" which his dad used (which is why he was called Konoha's Yellow Flash). I'm sure if he uses 1999 clones to train w/ Rocklee and Gai, he can move fast like them (faster than Sasuke).

Based on what we know about the Sharingan, it is literally impossible for Naruto to win. Let's not fool ourselves. We saw how he did against Itachi. Yeah there's whatever Itachi did to Naruto too, but that's just speculation. On what we know as absolutes (Sasuke has control over the 9-tail's chakra, can analyze Naruto to the point of his attacks being rendered useless, and his new "Super Mangekyou" eyes) there is no way Naruto's fairly straight-forward style will win. Once we see Naruto in action again we may be able to draw some conclusions about how Naruto may have caught up or have surpassed Sasuke, but as it stands, in a 1vs1, Sasuke would win, hands down (Assuming he could draw out the beast instead of letting it simply revive him after he'd won).

The fanfiction 'Team 8' essentially has Naruto do this. He gets taijutsu/strength/speed training from Gai in the morning and ninjutsu training from Kurenai in the afternoon. Then has "private studies" with Hinata in the evening and with her Byakugan she can help him control his chakra. The fanfiction is following similar events to canon of the outside-of-konoha plots, the Chuunin exam is where they're currently at (oh and Naruto faces Sasuke in it).

I'm a bit skeptic that Kishimoto will actually make Naruto a complete ninja, I think he'll get strong enough, but I think it'll still be a somewhat gimmicky win in the end.

Yes, Sasuke did really well against a nearly blind Itachi who's entire plan was to let Sasuke kill him to equip him with better eyes to go through with defending the village. Even with his "super eyes," Sasuke got absolutely embarrassed by the 8-tails. The sharingan aren't the deus ex everyone makes them out to be.

"loose", or whatever (take over Naruto's body again) I don't think Sasuke could do much. He doesn't have the experience Madara does. Plus the whole ordeal with the Kyuubi and Madara the Kyuubi was alone, but he's got Naruto now, and Naruto has him, etc etc. So I'm sure they both make up for eachother's weaknesses somehow.

And even though Sasuke can predict Naruto's moves, in Sage mode Naruto won't really have to do shit. He'd just tire Sasuke out. Sasuke is strong, but he has nowhere near as much endurance as Naruto. Naruto could most likely just stand there and take whatever is thrown at him, except maybe a chidori to the chest/face. MAYBE.

And if Sasuke puts Naruto in that mangekyou..verse-type place, you think if he did that "1,000 years of torture in a blink of an eye" thing it would effect Naruto at all? I bet the Kyuubi would pop up in that scenario too and do something to protect his host (I'm assuming if Naruto dies the Kyuubi dies as well, so if it came down to that situation I guarantee you the Kyuubi is gonna do some crazy shit).

Either way, whatever happens is gonna be fucking epic.

Edit: Then there's the fact that Sasuke is probably a big pussy on the inside and won't have the balls to kill Naruto. Just fuck him up and snatch the Kyuubi or whatever the fuck the plan is.

Also something I saw on another forum I frequent. I really want to see Gai fight without his weights on, seeing how he should have them still on. Although it has never been stated he wore them it seems like since Rock wears them and they basically train the exact same way. Go go Gai vs 2 Pain!
