Where did he state he wanted to end the series quick? Arc or series? The last I remember him saying was that 1yr will be focused on sasuke and something big will happen to kakashi.

Wanting to end something isn't a bad thing. Dragging something out until the end of time isn't exactly always a good thing, either.

Kinda makes me wonder how different Naruto would be if it was more a written book with the occasional drawn picture in terms of plot and progression.

I am fine with Naruto ending soon, it does feel like it has been going on for a while, but if it gets a bad ending, it can easily ruin the whole series for me.
