about chapter 28ish is where the manga gets alot different. they are currently on chapter 90. and these arent 9pages long like bleach/naruto. theyre usually 40ish pages long(cause theyre monthly like you said). and if they do start from the beginning, thats even longer. plus its not starting till april. so they'll be on ch94 by then.
and the way the manga is going I'd say it's going to end relatively soon.

I also don't think this manga is close to being done. There are still lots of issues to be resolved, such as Danzo's attempt to overthrow Tsunade, Madara, Sasuke, etc etc etc. We've still got a ways to go.

FMA has had new chapters coming out every month since the manga started. The anime changed the story line at about when they met Greed. The changes are drastic. hell, the only 3 humonculus that are the same are lust gluttony and envy (kinda counting greed). and even envy had big changes to his character. same with greed (kiiiinda)
new anime is coming out in april. believe it's going to reboot the series and follow the manga more precisely. but i'm still not sure if thats fact, or that was just speculation.
