That was before he took the other body, at the end of the pre-timeskip arc he was weak and forced to move to another body, which fixed his injuries. There is a 3 year cooldown on the jutsu though so he had to deal with teaching Sasuke while he could get to use it again.

That's because by the time Sasuke was to be taken by Orochimaru the body was starting to wear down. But the 4-tails fight was before that happened, so if he was weakened, it wasn't much. Orochimaru while weakened still believed he could beat Sasuke...

Frankly, everyone who might be dead right now has been pretty worthless lately. Kakashi had his moments, but he's been a lot less badass than he seemed before the time skip (Fight > Traction > Fight > Traction > etc.) Shizune's essentially a secretary and Hinata's been a prop since the time skip. In contrast, everyone who is DEFINITELY dead contributed more and/or were built up more before they died. Jiraiya had been running around for a while, so him being off'd at least made some sense. They built up Asuma's death enough that I actually cared that he died, and I liked how it weaved into Shikamaru's development (he's like if Lelouch and Light had a kid, but he wasn't 100 fathoms up his own ass). Odds are Kakashi, Shizune, and Hinata will all somehow come back to life, probably via a combination of defeating Pain and sacrificing Tsunade.


That said, this is the real question:
Konoha is a fucking crater. Sasuke wants to destroy Konoha to avenge the sacrifice his brother made to keep his family from destroying Konoha. Wtf is he gunna do now?

I'll give you that he was weaker when fighting Sasuke, but he still could have been weaker than normal while fighting 4tails.

I believe the Shikamaru arc and wind shuriken training + usage happened between those events at the very least. So that's 2 weeks to a month I'd guess.

It's also possible his battle with the Kyuubi resulted in wearing out his body, though.
