I agree that kishi can always start a ninja war among the villages because the leaf is no longer as strong as before. I mean anything could happen in a war, new techniques, ninja, mysteries, more history about other villages. It's particularly wiping the slate clean.

Obviously the story was always going to end with Naruto becoming Hokage, and it's not like hes too young since Gaara is a kage. Problem now is, there is no more village to be the leader of O.o Although I suppose the Hokage rules the entire country not just the town they reside in.

Still, no Konohagakure is kind of wierd.

No. Kages only rule their nation's military (the ninja in their village). There is a Lord of the Country as a whole who deals with everything else.

Nah, she's already had her 'how do I love thee' moment (right before she got hit), having another before she dies would be pointless. Either she'll live to start ACTUALLY interacting with Naruto, instead of just fighting or feinting, or she'll die by the time he's done.

I'm expecting the former; as the reader, we've known she's loved him for years. Big. Fucking. Deal. What was the purpose of saying that? She could have just as easily come to his rescue without saying anything. More to the point, he could have gone SSJ with practically anyone being killed in front of him. So why Hinata and why now? To bring closure to the character? That's all well and good, but unlike everyone else who's dead right now, the reader has no reason to care that Hinata wouldn't be around anymore. Until this point, she has not been important to the plot.

So why should she be important? To create a new plot point. To introduce a new element into the series. Naruto hasn't had to deal with real love before. He's peeped on bath houses and talks about going on dates with Sakura, but he's obviously not serious about it. This girl confessed her love and is interested in pursuing a real relationship with the twit. Dump that in a kid's lap and he has no choice but to really think about it....unless the source of that affection disappears. If Hinata dies, there was no point to any of this. Her death would have amounted to little more than shock value and an opportunity for character development will have been missed. Basically, if she dies, she may as well have not died and instead faded into the background, like whoever the Hell her keeper is.

I was thinking closure more in terms from Naruto's perspective. Using her death in his arms as a plot device to create a more dark-natured personality.

What he said. Pain & Sasuke are far too much emo for one series. If there were a Bleach cross-over with Ulquiorra, the pseudo-philosophical whining would be powerful enough to destroy my brain and then compress it into a diamond....a black diamond.

Also, in what situation would Naruto hold Hinata in his arms? They weren't close at all, it would be like if he had held Tenten in his arms. He barely dotes that much over his original team. My entire point is if she died here, Naruto would take it as less of a blow than if it were Sakura or Kakashi because you can't care for someone when you barely know they exist. Anyway, the plot point has already been expressed. Creating a similar situation is redundant.

I'd have to agree with LD. Her death is meaningless to Naruto in terms of what enrages him. Considering that Naruto will often go to the ends of the earth for people he is either A) Forced to watch over because of a mission or B) whom he just met and said a couple "Dattebayo" or "That is my way of being a ninja" or some crap. Hell, any one semi minor character could die in front of Naruto (Shikamaru, Ino, even Iruka) would force him to go 6 tails at this point.

The fact it was a character that confesses her love to Naruto. The sacrifice of her life (albeit to slightly delay a pending capture) would be too much for a slight plot-turning point.

Jiraiya's death was a good plot point. It left an open mystery on who Pein was and how Konoha could defeat him.

Kakashi has a questionable death. There is some more story that could be developed.

Hinata's death at this point is rather ridiculous. To use this character that could develop further into the story would be a waste in some potentially good secondary canon stories.

From what is shown so far, she seems incapacitated. If anything, she might quell Naruto's anger if she is shown to be ok....

I can't believe people are talking about the manga ending.

It's such a HUGE cashcow, nothing else the author will ever do will amount to half of what naruto is. Milk it till there is nothing left. Hundreds of directions the manga can go in, just because we are in the middle of a fight between this arcs villain and the main character doesn't mean it will end. OMG JOUNIN EXAMS! Did people think DBZ was done when the cell saga ended? I'm sure, but omg it's buu. There will always be more random villains added, just like Akatsuki was randomly added when all we thought about was Orochimaru and sasuke. Then when we thought Akatsuki was the worst part, it turns out the leader has the same eye technique that the ninja world creator had. Oh, and then some old ninja from the past is thrown in and we don't know what the fuck is going on.
