So another thing I'm curious about... why is the Hyuuga incident still an issue? Specifically, Yamato's mentioning of "what to do about it." I understand that Konoha would still be bitter about it, but I figured it would've already been sorted out as much as it could considering it happened about 12-13 years ago.

They talked about it during the neji vs Naruto fight. I only vaguely remember it, but some other clan tried to steal the eye technique and to prevent another ninja war neiji's father took the fall.

I dunno if they ever mentioned the hyuuga incident before, but from what I can tell, Cloud tried to take the Hyuuga eyes somehow 10 years ago, and Konoha didn't retaliate with war (as the third was Hokage).

It was told during the chuunin exams fight between neji and naruto, if you remember after losing neji got that scroll and the whole story was told to him. And his whole thing about fate and destiny was changed by naruto opening his eyes.

They wanted the Hyuuga bloodline or something, so neji's dad who was twins with his brother, took his brothers place.

There are plenty of ways to spin Sasuke into being better than what he is. He's the last of the Uchiha family which was once a major, MAJOR part of Konoha. Going on a manhunt to kill the remaining one can easily be construed as something malicious towards Konoha. Especially when you consider the Hyuuga incident (of them trying to steal eye techniques, if you can't get Byakugan, what's next?) and who is currently in charge. Danzou probably felt they should've declared war when the incident happened 10 years ago, it'd be simple to use this Sasuke hunt and align it with the Hyuuga one and build up a reason to go to war.

As well, most people in Konoha probably still have some sympathic feelings towards him, I mean, he did see his entire clan get massacre'd at a young age, even in the ninja world that's going to get some sympathy from most, at least in Konoha.

i hate how underestimated naruto is in front of that clan. they have no idea the potential he has to easily take their lives. makes me wonder how popular the destruction of pain was, even if konoha was the only village he invaded recently.

We don't know if they're aware of Pein being defeated yet, do we? Also, he's the Raikage, he's a pretty fucking big name of his own. I would only bet on Naruto winning that fight on the basis that the manga is named Naruto, if the Raikage can beat his brother in a fight I'd bet he's got some crazy shit to use against Naruto.

i think all the kages got a crazy trick up their sleeve. but i still hate how underestimated he is in general. as far as pein goes, i thought he was at least known around the higher tier members of each village. they might not know naruto defeated him yet?
