Nothing. It's just that Raikage stood in his way, so Sasuke has to go through him to get to Danzo. And if Sasuke can't deal with Raikage, and is beaten fairly decisively by the Raikage, how can he expect to do any better against the other kages? Thus the rest of my theory.

Looks like the anime will be going into filler next week. But it shouldn't be too long, and it looks somewhat interesting, as its a flashback to Jiraiya's days training under the Third. Although it seems they copy/pasted the original Kakashi bell-grabbing test, just with Jiraiya and co.

That's exactly what my other post said. Raikage stomps Sasuke, Sasuke goes emo over still not being strong enough, Sasuke decides to use Itachi's eyes in order to get stronger, Sasuke gets super plot power-up... and it's all a part of Madara's master plan

I'd lol if after implanting Itachi's eyes, Sasuke was immediately stomped by Gaara. Oh how that emo would rage if that happened.


As for the anime... filler of Jiraiya's past, even if it is just the bell-test? I'm on board. Even though I kinda wish they'd just keep pushing forward with stuff from the Manga, it makes sense to do something like this considering what's in store for Jiraiya soon.

'Naruto Shippuden' to Disney XD

SAN DIEGO -- Disney has struck a deal with Viz Media to bring the anime series "Naruto Shippuden" to the Disney XD network beginning next month.

"Shippuden" is the sequel to the popular Japanese import and picks up with the ninja lead characters now in their teens. The original "Naruto" series has been airing on Cartoon Network since 2005.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Disney,” Bill Germain, media director of programming sales at the San Francisco-based animation and licensing company. “We know Disney XD has been tracking really well since it launched in February and we think our top brand matches well with that audience.”

While it may be new to the Disney audience, Naruto has already proven to be a strong license in gaming and online. Subtitled episodes of "Shippuden" were among the top streams on both Hulu and Joost earlier this year.

“Disney XD is a growing destination for our key demographic, boys 6-14, and we're looking forward to bringing the adventures of 'Naruto Shippuden' to our lineup," said Tracy McAndrew, director, acquisitions and co-productions, Disney-ABC Cable Networks Group.

Laura Yoshioka, director of consumer software for Tomy, which owns the "Naruto" game rights for all Nintendo platforms, said, “'Naruto' has always had a large installed base so the games did well even without a TV series for support."

But with Tomy releasing two new titles in the series, including the Nintendo DS game "Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2" next week, Yoshioka suggested the new TV deal could end up broadening the audience for the video games as well. “Having Disney as the broadcast partner we feel really pushes the brand to the next level,” she added.

WTF IS THIS MAN OMG, Btw "Disney XD" is the new channel that replaced "Toon Disney" should be in most people's cable package...Naruto Shippuden is really violent in my opinion though (even more than DBZ) so I'm pretty sure Disney is gonna get sued for airing it there LOL!

Eh, it's not like people didn't bitch about its airings on Cartoon Network, either.

I'd say the violence level is probably comparable to Gargoyles. Maybe a bit more blood, but it's not like that shit hasn't been edited out or mudified in past anime translations. Then again, I think some forget the target audience of the series isn't exactly college+ aged dudes.

From the marketing standpoint, I'd say Disney made a good move. I'd love to see anime become more than just a niche market here in the states. Or more pointedly, stateside produced animation graduating beyond Flash and maybe shooting for people over 14 without focusing on fart jokes, drug references, or cartoonish violence. In the hands of this country's animation giant, it may have that potential. Or they could run it into the ground. I'm sure many will lean toward the latter, but fuck if I hate the "cartoons are for kids!" stigma.
