I don't think it's a sign that this next arc is going to suck. It should only be 7 fights at most, but most likely less. I'm pretty sure it would be written stupidly where each tailed-beast would be fighting someplace differently, so each country could focus on 1-2 each and the main focus of the arc would be Konaha and most likely sand ninjas vs a couple. And let's face it, the team ups that will be in Naruto are a lot more interesting than that crap in Bleach. Gaara, Temuri and Kankurou vs 1-tail? Hell yeah I want to see that. Shikamaru and his team vs any bijuu? I want to see that too. The problem with the One Piece arc right now is that most of the manga is two page spreads where you don't get a real grasp of all the fighting and only 3-5 panels of one on one fighting that we want to see. I think when it gets animated it will be 100 times more awesome than in the manga form. I really don't see this next arc getting written like that.

Well if the Byakugan is just a mutation (like someone said, but I honestly don't remember the manga ever stating this) of the Sharingan, they probably don't fit anywhere into the whole plan. They're just mutant freaks.

Nah, it was explicitly stated in the Neji/Hinata fight by Kakashi that the sharingan originated from the byakugan.

Okay then, the Sharingan are the mutations. They're mutant freaks, and they want to rule the world because of it.

EDIT: Okay, I went back to the fight between Neji and Hinata. Kakashi said "They say that the Uchiha clan's origins lie with the Hyuga clan." That's the extent of mentioning between the two. Is it just a generally accepted assumption that the Sharingan evolved/devolved from the Byakugan because of what Kakashi said here, or is there another spot that I'm not remembering that people are drawing conclusions from? I read a few chapters beyond the one it was mentioned in, and nothing. Just a bunch of background to Hinata because she was getting bitch slapped (because she's always been useless).

Kakashi or anyone else for that matter wouldn't make such a comment with all the back-story to the Rikudo Sage, Mangekyo Sharingan and Rinnegan involved. Even if it was considered a fairy tale or not. It just seems like Kishi changed some of the story aspects he originally envisioned, I know most authors do that anyway but this particular change kind of irks me.

Yeah, that, or what people in the Narutoverse might think about the Uchiha is completely false given the amount of "secrets" that have been revealed in more current chapters. Fact is, Kakashi did say that, and whether he knows it's true or not could just be another example of assumption on his part. Saying something like, "They say..." is sort of making an assumption to begin with, in my opinion, or that it may be generally viewed as a myth or legend. So maybe it's a complete falsity within the Narutoverse that's accepted as truth because both the Uchiha and Hyuga clans have plenty of their own secrets.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's a plothole, but it's definitely something that needs to be fleshed out otherwise it's going to be the source of confusion for sure. Going back and reading those chapters, though, it almost seemed like Kishimoto wanted to set Neji up to be an antagonist just because of how all the characters were reacting to him. I thought that was pretty funny.

Along with 7 Tailed Beasts. If Madara can some how insert the tailed beasts into himself, Zetsu, Kisame, Sasuke, Karin, Jugo, Suigetsu, (7 people total right now in Akatsuki) then they'd be pretty much unstoppable (temporarily until Madara wants the beasts back for the super fusion to make himself the 10 tailed Jinchuriki). Now the question is, if he does this, how many of his comrades will be able to control their beasts when they become Jinchuriki so suddenly...

There is still the possibility that all the eye techs appeared before the sage of six paths, otherwise this could really just be a retcon, depending on where Kishi goes with it. Like said before the Kakashi qualified his statement as a essentially hearsay. Also I do find it odd that the Byakugan was left out of the tablet only funny eye people could read, maybe there is in fact something there that Konoha could find out, also Kakashi could read for them the M. Sharingan and regular Sharingan parts.

Ten-tailed beast remains residing on the moon, giant ringed 10-tomoe eye, eternal genjutsu reflected back at the earth?

Oh, and the Byakugan is apparently chopped liver at this point. No mention as one of the "three great dojutsu," not even capable of deciphering some ancient tablet that, mysteriously, only the Uchiha clan inherited.

This story has taken a turn for the incredulously weird.

It seems odd to me that the Rikudo sage would know how to encode his secrets for the Sharingan and Mangekyou Sharingan to read if he didn't possess those eyes. I'm not sure how he'd be aware of the Mangekyou Sharingan either unless the elder boy activated it.

Also, why does the ten-tails have a "sharinnegan" eye or is that meant to signify a jutsu to control it like when Sasuke controlled Manda?

the only thing i dont like is... everyone is too fucking strong lol. that fight with pein seems so petty now compared to the powers that just touched the surfaces of the hokages and they havent even gone to their full form yet (expept the black guy). when the series 1st came out, villians like haku couldve been strong enough to give gaara a run for his money(not win obviously) and they used more strategy than anything. now one villian is just more insignificant than the next over and over lol. i really hope they bring back the old school ways of doing things.

thats why my fav fight in the series is still rock lee vs gaara. no way in hell rock lee was supposed to go that far in that fight. if you stood both of them next to eachother, gaara woulda smashed him. but rock lee went in with his plan and his secret weights and fucked him up. he went out with a bang lol. not really something youll see nowadays ; well idk, thats just my opinion

I'm pretty sure they mentioned how Rinnegan is the be-all-end-all of eye version of Kekkei Genkai.

it seems like Rinnegan is the master eye, and Sharingan and Byakugan are both lesser mutations.... if we go back to the power split of the Rikudo's sons, where one got great power and one got a good spirit or whatthefuckever... maybe it makes sense that the Sharingan can get partial access to the Rikudo's power/knowledge while it's counterpart (byakugan) cannot. As far as we know, Byakugan doesn't really have any sort of offense; it's just a really enhanced eye (sees Chakra and nearly 360 degrees). No real "power" to speak of- keep in mind that the Jyuuken stuff is just techniques that the Hyuuga developed because of what they can see.

I don't really see a huge jump in power levels. Pain, Jiraiya, and Sage Mode Naruto are all easily in a kage's power spread.

it just seemed like Pain was something beyond Kage. he flattened a fucking city in the blink of an eye and then undid it all. and naruto managed to beat him (with a little help).

It was accepted that Jiraiya was kage level, and he was killed without doing a whole lot of damage to Pain. I think it was also accepted that some of the other Akatsuki members were Kage level, or at least close to it.
