Its probably for cover. He wanders around a lot normally, but he also does information gathering for Konoha every so often, so it probably pays not to be identified as a leaf ninja so he can go where he wants. Plus most of the time he pretends he's not even a ninja, so the headband would be a dead giveaway that something's up.

I failed to notice this in the Jiraiya Chronicle 1hr Special Episode, but Jiraiya actually met the 6 Paths of Pain in the anime. Of course it wasn't this detailed in the manga, since it was sort of a filler, but still interesting how to incorporated it .

Here's the pics/descriptions of them from that episode, I won't put Yahiko cause everyone knows he's Deva Path lol, also the Second Animal Path was just a dead corpse which Jiraiya didn't fight/meet, and we find out about it later by Leaf interrogation anyways.

Asura

When it was alive, the Asura path belonged to a tall, bald man with an unusual body shape, possessing a very thick neck, no ears and a large jaw. In the anime, the Asura path was shown to be a wandering puppeteer with insight to the world. He also had part of his face obscured by a rice hat in the anime, possibly hiding a headband that had not been shown in the manga, as Jiraiya quickly discovered that he was a ninja. The Asura path's unnamed puppet was made to look like a baby, and was capable of emitting infantile cries.

Naraka

When it was alive, the Naraka path belonged to a tall, stocky, muscular man. The anime showed him to be somewhat of a holy man in a small village, strongly emphasizing the power of prayer among his religious disciples.

Preta

When it was alive, the Preta path belonged to a large, bulky man from Kusagakure. The anime showed that he was both a ninja and a farmer who'd failed to cultivate the land for his family due to his participation in the Third Great Shinobi World War.

Animal (first one)

While it was alive, the body belonged to a member of the Fūma clan. This member had received a scar on its forehead during an encounter with Jiraiya, which was usually obstructed by the Animal path's headband. Many citizens of Amegakure believed Pain to be from the Fūma clan because of this body. The first Animal path, had light green hair tied back into a ponytail when it was was alive.

When it was alive, the Human path belonged to a tall, slender man from Takigakure. In the anime, he shown to have been a level-headed ninja who believed that all he could do to try and achieve peace was to teach the next generation to survive the battles with other ninja until it came.

Pretty cool, cause I didn't even notice while watching that episode O.o, I was just thinking he was just searching for the his disciple and met random people along the way to talk/fight especially when he met Asura.

yeah i noticed the ninjas in that episode :D I really like how they animated the whole pein fight. It made a lot more sense having all those flashbacks etc in one episode, as well as having the actual fight uninterrupted.

And yeah, the first time I read that fight I didnt notice the torn arm, it was only after re-reading. A lot of stuff happened during the fight and I found it much easier to understand watching it.

Gonna be the same with the Itachi fight lol, I read it all in one go and it was all such a blur to me

Ao: "It doesn't seem that this was a trap of Danzou's. It's more likely the Akatsuki's ninjutsu."

He gets rid of Zetsu's spore jutsu.

Ao: "Maybe I/we should hurry..."

Fuu: (Says something about Zetsu's jutsu and how it preys on and transfers the vicitm's chakra to the host)

They/He is liberated from Zetsu's jutsu too.


Danzou: "So even you didn't notice it then."
Torune: "So, what about the guy who has been tailing us for a while now?"
Fuu: "He's still at it... It'd be good if he fell into [our] trap though."
Torune: "Your trap is special. It'll work"
Danzou: "I don't care if he lives or dies... But take out his right eye."
Fuu: "Wha-"

Danzou told them to take Ao's right eye because he wants the Byakugan he has.
Fuu: "...I'm leaving my body to you in sec, Torune."
Just about then, Ao runs into the trap. A puppet attacks him with a sickle(?)
Ao: "?!"
The sickle are thrown at him, whom catches it and throws it back at the puppet, lodging it into it.
Ao: "A booby trap... This time it must be Danzou's."
There's a note on the puppet's forehead with the kanji for 'curse'. The kanji disappears.
Ao: "?!"
Puppet: "What is going on? How can you see my body?!"
Ao: "The mind-puppet switch curse seal technique... That's the name of this jutsu."
Puppet: "Damn it! Is this a mind-switch that curses whoever attacks you?!"(Unsure)
The puppet is actually Fuu.
Looks like the mind of the puppet switched places.
Torune: "What do we do after this?"
Torune is carrying Fuu's human body over his shoulder.
Danzou: "I'll tell you what my intentions are as soon as Fuu returns to his body."

Tsuchikage: "You're such a guy with a commanding tone."

I see it as one of two things:

1) Sakura really has grown to love Naruto, and it was Sai's rant that finally "clicked" things into place. Thus what she is saying to him is genuine.

2) Sakura does like Naruto and cares about his feelings. However, she still does not love him. She is just saying these things in order to stop the pain that she is causing him via the promise. And Naruto is calling her out on it. Pretty much what Draggy mentioned about her faking it.

Personally I'm hoping it's option 2. Loving the fact that Naruto has been smartening up and is able to see through stuff like this.
