we've already seen that Samehada can only take down like... 6 tails of Bee's cloak, so it's not like Kisame could just absorb a released bijuu. Kisame is a powerhouse, but he can be overwhelmed- he seems to rely mostly on physical combat with some advanced water jutsu mixed in. probably why he was paired up with Itachi- someone more subtle who can do "crowd control" while Kisame can straight match up with just about anyone for raw power.

Kisame used Water Release: Exploding Colliding Wave on Team Gai. He upgraded it to Water Release: Great Exploding Colliding Wave which is what he's using on Killerbee right now, which basically contains the water in an orb, since the land they're in is kinda flat I guess.

Naruto isn't Pokemon btw, lightning isn't weak to water in the series if you look at the elemental ninjutsu chart. Lightning Jutsu is weak to Wind Jutsu in Naruto series, and Earth Jutsu is weak to Lightning Jutsu.

Lightning is still a conductor though as we've seen many times in the series (most recent was Darui's lightning water combo jutsu vs Sasuke, then Storm Release Kekkei Genkai which was a new element based on a combination of both elements).

If lightning strikes a large body of water, the whole water doesn't become shocked. No amount of electricity can shock a mass body of water, not even lightning. In Naruto world [Kirin is the strongest Lightning Jutsu (since Sasuke is using real lightning in it controlled by his chakra).

Since it's actual lightning, it wouldn't be able to shock such a large body of water like Kisame's Great Exploding Colloding Wave jutsu. Therefore no lightning jutsu Killerbee uses can shock electricity through an entire water mass like that, and therefore, no he can't dissolve the entire Water Jutsu and turn Kisame into Fish Fillet.

Not like Killer Bee would be dumb enough to release some huge lightning jutsu while he was trapped in a giant ball of water anyhow. There's still a pretty huge amount of unknown variables though, while Killer Bee uses lightning based jutsu, it's unknown what chakra affinity the eight tails has (if any), and given the fact that it's been mentioned as being a sort of octopus-ox, he might not be at as grave of a disadvantage underwater as some people think.

Killer bee changes to bijuu, and tries to escape while holding Sabu-chan et Ponta. But the water moves with Kisame in the center, so if he swims after them, they can't reach the air.

Then Killer Bee suggests that since Kisame is after him, he'll leave them and try to escape by himself, so that with the water moving they will eventually reach the air. But Kisame attacks Ponta

Killer Bee gets back to the rescue, and falls into the trap of Kisame, who attacks him with the dorsal fin and gets him back to a lower version of bjiuu

Killer Bee gets out a single tentacle and uses it to grab Kisame away from him

Meanwhile, Sabu-chan and Ponta get out of the water

Killer Bee somethings about lightning sword, but on a suggestion of Hachibi, just spouts off ink in order to escape

But Samehada/Kisame fusion can feel the chakra through the skin and he attacks Killer bee with the dorsal fin

Kisame has cancelled the Suiton and the fusion, and gets close to Killer Bee down and not moving. He tries to cut off his legs but Samehada grabs the earth to protect Killer Bee

Thorns come out of the handle, forcing Kisame to drop it, and Samehada jumps close to Killer Bee

Samehada liked Killer Bee Chakra so much, it wants to make him its new master. It tries to heal Killer Bee with Chakra stolen from Kisame, but Kisame kicks it off

Kisame grabs a sword of Killer Bee stuck into the earth, and gets ready to stab him.

Samehada picking Killer Bee as it's new master? Honestly didn't see that one coming. It would explain why Kishimoto had him lose all but two of his swords against Sasuke and never had him replace them though.

Makes sense, if you ask me. So far the sword has been with Kisame, who has had the largest chakra reserves out of anyone it has encountered. But all jinchuriikis have huge reserves due to the nature of the situation, so of course the sword would think Bee's to be tasty, especially since he's the 8-tails.

In terms of plot progression, I can't really see how it ups the drama any unless Bee winds up fighting both Madara/Akatsuki and the Alliance. Otherwise, it just lopsides things even more in the Alliance favor unless Madara has some stupid trick up his sleeve involving use of the tails and Sasuke.

Money's on Madara revealing some hidden Mangekyo Sharingan super-weapon of mass destruction that as yet only he has discovered, but Sasuke also has the potential to master.
