I don't see how nobody has suggested the eyes are like 'lives'. I'm pretty sure it was very clear that's what was going on. The chakra viewed by Sasuke, around Danzou, appeared to be different people surrounding him. Also, each time Sasuke 'killed' Danzou with an attack and eye would be shut. They even made it a point to rule out genjutsu, Danzou is definitely dieing, as confirmed by Karin, the eyes are protecting his 'lives' somehow.

There's one on his ass that obviously hasn't been shown, that'll end up being the big twist as to how eventually all the eyes are shut and yet he's still alive.

Danzou is apparently Kakuzu v2, replace hearts with eyes. Seriously, Kishi has to know this whole fight is stupid and is adding nothing to the story but plot-holes and headaches. I'm hoping this Itachi twist is epic.

I know the eyes on his arm = lives thing makes sense right now, but I really hope it isn't true and he isn't just Kakuzu v2. That just seems pretty lame to me unless they have another function. I do agree though, really hoping "Itachi" showing up makes this fight much more interesting.

Looks like Danzou is using those Sharingan eyes as like a multiple lifeforce. I wouldnt be surprised at all if some how he suppressed the lifeforces of many Uchiha into those eyes or if that naturally happens upon the death of an Uchiha.

Indeed, it would make all the more sense in explaining how Itachi was just summoned by Sasuke as well.

It's not exactly like Kakuzu because Danzou's body is being completely destroyed or his arm is being cut off sometimes, if it were Kakuzu these would have killed him and all his 'lives'. I think it's a bit more complicated but they are definitely allowing his to escape death scenarios. Perhaps the eyes shoot out his being and then shut once he 'rematerializes'. Like, in his dieing instant it shoots him out leaving his cocoon behind and he appears elsewhere. It'd be an eye technique and explain the 'multiple lives'.

Doesn't have to be 1 eye = 1 life. But something about those eyes are clearly reviving him as they close. I mean Susanno'o visibly killed him like what? 3 times? lol

He's been alive for a few minutes, hes been conversing, and the eye closes. There was no death to trigger that eye closing.

Well I doubt a few minutes passed between him getting crunched by Susano'o and when the eye finally shut, considering the pacing fights usually have (we aren't reading DBZ after all lol), but yeah I agree with you, I really don't think the eyes are indicative to how many lives he has left or anything. To me it seems like they're going to be used for copying or sealing Sasuke's jutsus. On page 2 and 4, Danzou is commenting on Susano'o's abilities, kind of like he's studying it almost. Then again, it's probably just bits of flair in the dialogue to emphasize Sasuke's abilities, but that's not how I initially perceived Danzou talking about it. Then with Amaterasu he says something about not seeing it in a while, and almost immediately after that, an eye on his arm shut. Then another shut after summoning the Hawk, and then when Sasuke used his sword (but those two shut after the arm was cut off).

I guess the real test to debunk my theory would be to see whether he can Amaterasu again or not. I have a feeling we won't really get an explanation about the arm for a while if Danzou lives, similar to how long it took to figure out what the hell was going on with Pain and the bodies. But really I'm just hoping that Itachi isn't a genjutsu and he just slaughters Danzou.

Itachi's appearance is just a genjutsu Sasuke is using. He's been saying "Stop talking Itachi's name" the whole fight, so it's obvious since none of his ninjutsu and sword skills are killing Danzo, hes resorting to using genjutsu now. You can see the close up of Sasuke's Mangekyo on the last page with an SFX sound.

I'm calling it now, each of Danzo's closing eyes are actually controlling the space and time continuum. Each time an eye closes it presets any upcoming damage to his body will be reversed moments after the damage occurs. Look at Kakashi discovering Kamui and it's space time controlling ability to warp anything into another dimension.

Danzo isn't even using his Sharingan under his bandages yet man (even though he can use the mind controlling ability with it covered up like on Mifune at the summit). Maybe he can only use one or the other and not both at once? Since his body's not adapted to the Uchiha limb/eyeball.

True, but you could probably say just as easily that the reason for the sound effect with Sasuke's eye is that his supposed dead brother came out of fucking nowhere lol, and seeing how he was looking at Danzou and Itachi came up behind Danzou, Sasuke would've seen him first obviously. Guess we'll see next week, can't wait! For as much as a lot of people hate on Sasuke and I've defended the Sasuke-heavy points in this manga plenty of times in this thread, I hope all of you are on the edge of your seats with this... because in my opinion, this is the best it's been in a while now.
