Sasuke's gone. I can't see how he can ever come back to anything resembling the light. He's convinced himself in his grief and anger that everyone is mocking the Uchiha, and that everyone is to blame for the decisions of a few. Blaming innocents for living their life unaware of what others have done for them is wrong when they have no way to know, and had no choice in the matter.

Of course, Itachi saw everything long before it happened, but that makes me wonder why he allowed everything to play out as it did? He foresaw Sasuke snapping upon knowing the truth, and he foresaw Madara being able to twist the Sauce into this revenge-driven freak. How much further did Itachi see, and more importantly, why wasn't any more of what he saw shown to us?

Things are really heating up, but I like that look in Naruto's eyes. I think his answer will make most all of us happy... finally.

I think whatever it is that Itachi endowed unto Naruto will help change Sasuke. I imagine it would be like a sure sign from Itachi that convinces Sasuke to be dissuaded from his actions. Although, at this point it does seem far fetched at this point for Sasuke to be saved seeing as how violent he is to his old friends.

If Sasuke somehow does turn around I can imagine Madara not very happy since Itachi did succeed in hindering Madara's plan to corrupt Sasuke and whatever else Madara had in store for him.

I was under the impression that Itachi's backup plan was amaterasu that activated when sasuke first saw madara after that final fight.

Once that failed Madara was free to do with Sasuke what he wished.

Which is kind of counter-productive for Sasuke to spam it and go blind. He knows Itachi didn't trust Madara, it's evident in of itself so why lose the one thing you have that's keeping you from completely becoming his bitch? The whole mask bit was just a coincidence.
