Also, it seems they really danced around really saying that Namikaze Minata (Yondaime, Yellow Flash, whatever you want to call him) was Naruto's father, but it is confirmed that Uzumaki Kushina was indeed Naruto's mother.. and she seemed to be tomboyish with red hair and all fiery. That's awesome. I can definitely see his personality as matching her's if that's the case.

It's pretty clear from the translation I read that the Fourth is Naruto's father. What I wonder now is the story on Naruto's mother, did she die in childbirth? Fighting the Kyuubi? How?

Naruto needs to learn all his fathers jutsus now. He already surpassed his Rasengan ability, but he needs to get the speed, he'll be set once he gets that against all but...the Kyuubi, lol.

I really hope Jiraiya doesn't die, it would still be a pretty big change for the anime, but they've killed the 3rd and Asuma over the course of the anime, it wouldn't be a complete shocker for Jiraiya to die, it is sort of unfair for Konoha to still have two of their legendary Sannins at home guarding the place, makes them weaker with only one and opens them up to another arc. Saw someone make a comment about manga ending around the 400th episode but this manga makes me think that isn't the case, it was said today that Naruto still has a LONG way to go, and I don't see things ending until he can at least be seen as the Hokage. But it would be interesting to see Tsunade and Jiraiya die and Kakashi be the 6th.

And about Itachi vs Sasuke, I'm now fairly certain they won't be fighting to the death like Sasuke wants, there's going to be either documents or one of the people/cats there will tell Sasuke the truth about what happened that day. What I'm waiting to see is what's going to happen with their allegiance/alignment after this happens. If Jiraiya does die, I see those two returning to Konoha or at least defending it in some way, but I really don't know where Kishimoto is going right now with that storyline.

Also, the line from Pein saying "Someone has disturbed my rain's fall" was really awesome. Makes me wonder... is he conjuring up the rainfall, or is it happening naturally? Could Pein really be THAT strong? Would be awesome. I guess we'll find out soon.

Well, at this point Tsunade and Jiraiya are legendary and known to be strong across all hidden villages. Kakashi was dismissed by Orochimaru and even Kabuto thought he could take him (Kabuto isn't stupid and has plenty of info on Kakashi too). Their respect levels seem quite a bit differently, even with Deidera in the anime he's only worried about fighting both Naruto and Kakashi at once, he's confident he can take Kakashi knowing information about him. If forced into the situation I believe he'd be fine, but currently Tsunade is a lot better both for a political reason (granddaughter of the 1st Hokage and popularity) and strength reason (personal fighting ability, medical too) which are both important for the ninja world Naruto takes place in. Also, the 3rd was still like 20-30 years older than the Sannins currently are to be old enough to want to retire, there's still many many years before Tsunade would be "too old" to be the Hokage.

Yeah, I agree. The fact was.. Tsunade was just listing possible candidates because she knows she can't actually be Hokage forever. Jiraiya also knew that Tsunade wouldn't hesitate to help him, but he knew she's needed more in the village to keep everything calm and running smoothly, because changing Hokages between 3-4 years apart would be harsh on the village and would lead other villages to believe that they are weakened further. If Tsunade were to go with Jiraiya and possibly die, and Kakashi would replace them.. villages would realize that they now have a weakness seeing as Kakashi isn't nearly as strong as the Legendary Sannin. Eh, it's all just thoughts coming to me, but I'm happy with what's taking place. I just really hope Jiraiya doesn't die, even though I believe he will because every hero (Naruto) needs to have their mentor die to learn the greater lesson.

I get the feeling the manga is going to head in this direction in the far future(after Itachi is dead for example):

-Tobi gains 7 of the tailed beast. Sasuke joins Tobi after killing Itachi and gaining the MS(for some reason he counts as his best friend).
-Jiraiya thinks only Naruto can kill Tobi and teaches him about the tailed beast. We find out Tobi is Obito.
-Sasuke is going to kill Jiraiya in front of Naruto.
-Tobi is able to gain control of most of the Ninja villages, leaving Naruto, Sakura, and Sai alone and fugitives in their efforts to destroy the 7 tailed beasts(who's spirits have been trapped into items) that are spread around the world.
-After destroying most of the tailed beasts, they find out that the final tailed two beasts and method to destroy the ninth(Naruto's) has to be done in Hidden Leaf Village. Tobi finds out about this and a final battle is staged with Leaf resisting Tobi's control. Tobi just wants Naruto and will let everyone live if he gets him.
-Several characters die in the battle, giving Naruto a lot of guilt. He still able to destroy the 7th tailed beast.
-He is on his way to confront Tobi, when he sees him and Sasuke having a conversation. Tobi tells him Orchimaru was actually 8th tailed beast and kills Sasuke and takes it.
-Sasuke tells Naruto with his dying breath that he must die in order to kill Tobi and that Jiraiya and Orcihmaru were making a plan to stop Tobi the whole time.
-Naruto fights Tobi with no intention of winning, dies, and so does Tobi. However, some plot-armor shit goes on and Naruto comes back to life, because like... uh... the seal.
-He becomes hokage after 19 years.

I want to dismiss the idea on the basis that I don't think they'd make Gaara and Naruto even more alike (Gaara's father tried to kill him, now it turns out Naruto's mother would be?)

However, back in the early days of Naruto and Jiraiya he makes a comment about the 4th giving Naruto the Kyuubi to protect him. What if he's being protected from his mother, by his father? That actually seems to be somewhat possible, though I don't think Naruto's mother is going to be a bad guy. Just if she is, that's how it'd be played out I think.
