My theory, Pein is probably from the former whirlpool country as well....The key to the story seems to be how Jiraiya said "former." What's yet to be revealed is what happened to the country. This destruction or the fall of the whirlpool country may be the very root of Pein's desire to conquer the world. Vengeance for whatever happened.

Another factor to consider is that if Pein is from the whirlpool country, he could be related to Naruto's mother, no not father like people are saying so much, I think there's a higher chance of Naruto's mother and Pein being brother and sister or related to that extent. Pein has the same color as Naruto's mother (atleast I think I read somewhere that he has orange hair). Think of this as a plot device, Pein wishes to collect all the Bijuus in order to conquer the world at the same time, take vengeance on the leaf village for the death of Uzumaki Kushina who died due to the fourth's jutsu or someway somehow, his twisted mind blames her death on the fourth and the leaf village...it's all speculation of course...

Now what would be interesting (and this is just wishful thinking mind you), is if Naruto and Pein are related, will there be a chance that Naruto will uncover somekind of Kekei Genkai later on, like Pein's weird eye thingy. Well that's my 2 cent theory, thanks for reading.

Who's to say that his weird eyes are even part of a bloodline limit, though? It could be that he just has weird eyes, or that it's somewhat... typical of a Whirlpool country person (going with your speculation, anyway). Then again, if he's controlling the rain, it probably is part of a bloodline limit, as he hasn't been shown using a jutsu or anything to make it rain (on dem ho's). Really though... once again, going with your assumptions Blazer, I wonder if we'll see Pein and Madara/Tobi fight. They might have different goals in mind for Akatsuki. If Pein were to be driven by his own revenge, and Tobi just wants to own shit or something, they might have a conflict of interest with what should be done with the bijuus... thus exploding the planet in Namek-style fashion.

Needless to say, the manga is getting fucking GOOD.

It's pretty clear from the translation I read that the Fourth is Naruto's father. What I wonder now is the story on Naruto's mother, did she die in childbirth? Fighting the Kyuubi? How?

Naruto needs to learn all his fathers jutsus now. He already surpassed his Rasengan ability, but he needs to get the speed, he'll be set once he gets that against all but...the Kyuubi, lol.

I really hope Jiraiya doesn't die, it would still be a pretty big change for the anime, but they've killed the 3rd and Asuma over the course of the anime, it wouldn't be a complete shocker for Jiraiya to die, it is sort of unfair for Konoha to still have two of their legendary Sannins at home guarding the place, makes them weaker with only one and opens them up to another arc. Saw someone make a comment about manga ending around the 400th episode but this manga makes me think that isn't the case, it was said today that Naruto still has a LONG way to go, and I don't see things ending until he can at least be seen as the Hokage. But it would be interesting to see Tsunade and Jiraiya die and Kakashi be the 6th.

And about Itachi vs Sasuke, I'm now fairly certain they won't be fighting to the death like Sasuke wants, there's going to be either documents or one of the people/cats there will tell Sasuke the truth about what happened that day. What I'm waiting to see is what's going to happen with their allegiance/alignment after this happens. If Jiraiya does die, I see those two returning to Konoha or at least defending it in some way, but I really don't know where Kishimoto is going right now with that storyline.

why would they have to die for kakashi to be named 6th? they've had more than one hokage alive at the same time before

The 3rd was old and stepping down from his position when the 4th stepped up as Hokage. I think that's pretty freakin obvious. Hokage is a one man position, you don't have 2 Hokage, the 4th simply died and the 3rd retook his position as Hokage in his stead.

Doesn't one of the two Akatsuki people in the Rain Village have red hair? I remember seeing a colored picture with one of them having red hair, I think it was Pein (the guy right?). Which would lead you to think he is an Uzumaki simply because they made it a point to say Naruto's mother had red hair.

Not with what was released in the last manga, no. It might have been an easy/obvious revelation but still the confirmation alone is a spoiler people will remember. That's why I went back to small text

Yeah, the foreshadowing is just a bit too obvious I think. I hope it's an epic battle though, and Pain isn't some super human ninja that kills Jiraiya with his pinky. I'd be incredibly content if the fight spans as long as Sasuke/Deidara did.

It really looks like they are setting up to the end of Jiraiya. He's an awesome character and has been around long enough for it to be a big impact and very dramatic, not just on the characters but on the readers. The long talk with Tsunade, her not wanting him to leave, the random history of naruto in the conversation, and just the dramatic way he enters the rain and stands there overlooking the city.

He always made me laugh =/
