You seem to be forgetting that he has the REAL sansori there at least as far as the mind goes. When orochi popped out the past hokages they were perfectly sentient until Orochimaru removed that and only left them mostly mindless. The fact that they had a conversation instead of immediately killing orochimaru also indicates that it's impossible to rebel against the summoner and succeed unless you buy the idea that a person capable of fighting madara AND the kyuubi at the same time is incapable of gutting a punk like orochimaru before he can blink. In other words Kabuto doesnt have to do jack shit with making puppets. He already has the one who makes them with presumably a perfectly intact mind

You're really trying to over complicate things. Kabuto has a fully cognizant immortal zombie of Sansori as his servant. Sansori knows how to built puppets. Your waltz on down to the local puppet shop idea that you scoff at is a perfectly logical explanation for what sansori can do to make a new puppet. There are less than a dozen people who know what he actually looked like so why couldn't he basically walk in there and buy some lumber and whatnot? Theres also the black market. Having 2 fully powered Kage that can never die was fine but sneakily buying stuff in a story about ninja's is too far out there? Then there's the fact that orichimaru proclaimed he wanted to know every jutsu which means he'd have to learn how to play with puppets. Orochimaru was certainly rich enough to finance the parts given the fact that he owned his own prison and was able to conduct genetic experimentation in his evil lab of doom. We also saw no ill effect from the summonin the only time we saw it. It was even explicitly stated that even if the summoner dies the summons will still stay and carry out the last order they received. Henceforth that means you're really reaching here since Kabuto wouldn't receive any of these ill effects you seem to think he would get from ordering a guy to go grocery shopping.

I wasn't arguing about the stealthiness of going to get parts for a puppet. I was arguing that he would have to get *one of a kind* items, because I don't think they carry Sasori Mark VIII parts at the local puppet shop. And obviously there is a limit to Edo Tensei or Orchimaru and Kabuto would have had their summons up full time for backup. I didn't mention receiving ill effects other than him fighting off Orochimaru from trying to take over his mind/body. Which last I remember half of his face was a snake.

Now this, I didn't think about. But I highly doubt ninjas of Akatsuki's level invite each other over for tea, at their secret hideouts. Nor do I think that Sasori would arrange to meet his spy, Kabuto, at one of his hideouts. I don't think Sasori would have told anyone about any secret stashes, which would give away secrets about his puppet to potential rivals. I mean, he was spying on Orochimaru, why would he give him any kind of advantage?

I guess an argument can be made that his puppets are like the 1st and 2nd having armor and weapons when they got summoned, but it just seems wrong.

Kabuto has been hidden for several months so far without being caught. If he cant go to the market then what's stopping him or the zombie from going out and gathering the materials one cant simply buy during that rather large timeframe? And since it's so secret then in order to keep it secret he would have had to be a fairly good craftsman which indicates the skill to make it from scratch (with the proper tools) as well. A Hammer, saw, and some nails is not that hard to get. We are talking about mechanichal creations here. They wont be as dangerous as the ones made from live humans but what's to stop the guy from slowly upgrading as they attack more and more people?

When Orochimaru revived the 1st and 2nd Hokages, he used the bodies of the two sound nins that Gaara didn't kill (the dude with the broken arms and the chick) as containers for the Hokage's souls. There doesn't seem to be any need for an intact or working body from the ninja you are actually reviving.
