I dunno if Kushina would present that big of a threat for Madara as much as Minato would, considering the last time they met, Minato beat the shit out of him. Who else were in the coffins? My memory fails me.

Well no matter how sad it was, it was needed to be told, how the Kyuubi fight ended and how the story began for Naruto as the new jinchuriki of the ninetails, I'm just glad after all these years we finally saw how it went down. Also I'm glad to see despite it all and though everything, Naruto never held a grudge against his parents for what they had to do, they earn the utmost respect for their ultimate sacrifice for their child.

I don't think it said or implied that Madara was scared of who was in the coffin. just that he was shocked/amazed. Maybe scared idk.

I was thinking it could be Madara. The real Madara. There has to be some reason why we still haven't seen Tobi's face.

Ahh, hrm. Yeah.. that's right.

And yeah, I guess you're right about the sealing the ability to summon the 4th. Still.. makes me wonder if that was only temporary, or if Kabutorochimaru found a way around it. I can't think of anyone else outside of Madara's brother that would scare him that much. Well.. maybe not scare him, but surprise him.

Nothing can save Bleach, though. Just gotta hold out til the end, or if shit gets canceled.

Am I the only one who appreciated the throwback to some of the old BGMs in this week's episode? Don't get me wrong: Shippuden has more serious music which fits the mood.

And wow, I also forgot how obnoxious Naruto was back then. I used to hate the kid until the Neji fight.

The First was summoned by Orochimaru when he fought the Third. The Third sealed him (and the Second) with the Death Seal, so can't be him.

The summoning technique itself is pretty vague though, all we know is a living sacrifice is put in dirt and the jutsu itself recreates the body and no mention has been made if anything of the original person is needed to summon them, only that they are dead. Assuming it draws an actual soul to affix to the corpse that belonged to the original person, then the 1st through 4th Hokage aren't viable since they're all sealed due to the Dead Demon Technique. Otherwise it could very well be the 1st or 4th since they're the only Hokage we know who could defeat him in that state and might shock him. Either that or someone who is dead that we aren't expecting to be dead or don't know about yet.

I don't really buy the whole "he's not really Madara" thing, I mean it's possible but this flashback itself shows that the 4th was able to deduce that the only probable person the person he was fighting could be was Madara, meaning it's well within the scope of his powers to be alive for that along but probably super old and pruny. Unless Madara himself is a summon performed by the 1st since he could use that technique.

well, that deduction was also followed by him saying "no, you couldn't be". I'm not saying that he isn't Madara, but we can't say it is solely based on what the 4th said/thought.
But there's some reason why he's still wearing the mask, even if it's not just to hide his identity.

The Third stops the 3rd coffin from being summoned in the manga, you never see it. Only in the anime does it appear with the word "Yon" on it. Since Yondaime's soul was sealed with half of the Nine Tails we can assume he wasn't in that third coffin. Since Edo Tensei summons a soul into a sacrificed body.

He sealed them but then let the bunshins disappear, so it's most likely that they went back to being where ever they were before. That's they way I thought of it at least.
