The biju being giant sentient masses of chakra, I'd be surprised if they don't have some pre-existing relationship to nature chakra.

Well you could think of it that way. Or you could think that since he and Kushina have known each other since they were in the Academy and Naruto has gone 1~8 Tails and used the attack a bunch of times since hitting the age of 16, that it couldn't be that much of a stretch that Kushina used it too if/when she lost control and Minato saw it then and decided to try and mimic it.

But it's all just speculation at this point with no foundation what so ever.

I thought the 9 tails was supposed to have an unlimited supply, so why does the exchange need to take place? Wouldn't sucking so much chakra from Naruto to the point that it kills him also kill the Fox as well?

If a host dies with a beast still sealed inside them, the beast eventually reincarnates by itself. This is why Minato didn't want Kushina to reseal the Kyuubi before she died because then it would be reborn without a host, upsetting both the balance of power.

Not sure about the exchange thing, since I thought what Naruto did was seal the Kyuubi away while taking control independently of his chakra.

I don't ever remember reading that the tailed beasts had unlimited chakra. I do remember reading though that the beasts were made up of a massive collection of chakra.

Chakra doesn't even seem all that powerful anymore. Guy took out the shark with almost no chakra and right before the fight it was mentioned that the shark guy had chakra comparable to a tailed beast. An who needs chakra when you got the hax eyes.

Both Itachi and Kisame acknowledged Guy as someone not to toy around with way back the early days. The Gate release techniques he used uses . . . chakra.

Chakra is still a big deal as it's used for everything. This wouldn't be the first time it was mentioned that using too much chakra could kill you. On several occasions Kakashi mentioned it to both Sasuke and Naruto and least we forget, he died himself to this very same fact. The link between the beast taking Naruto's chakra could be the exact same thing. If you take too much of it's energy, it'll disappear and die. So possibly to maintain it's on life, it'll draw on your own to keep it alive. I'm hoping this would be remedied by Naruto using sage mode but as someone else said, Beast / Sage are probably close to the same. I too hope this doesn't phase out sage mode.

I really don't see why he shouldn't be able to use both at the same time.
Same shit I wondered about when Goku stopped using Kaio-ken in DBZ when he turned SSJ.

What I'm saying is that I don't understand why he wouldn't transform into SSJ and then still use Kaio-ken while transformed... there's really no reason not to.
Same with Naruto, why not use sage chakra while in beast mode?

Sage Beast Naruto would be unstoppable.
