Are you seeing something that I'm not? Madara is explaining to him that his (Sasuke's) Mangekyo Sharingan was awakened with Itachi's death.

Aaah wut? Yes Itachi never meant for Sasuke to find out about his true intentions. Madara isn't pin pointing the time when Sasuke's eyes awaken anyways. There's still a big possibility that Madara wanted to bring out Sasuke's mangekyou and there's no way to know 100% if Itachi wanted that (we hopefully will know very soon now that he's been resurrected.) That still does not mean that you have to physically kill someone to gain mangekyou.

Generally Itachi is by far the most interesting of the resurrected because he could potentially let slip a whole shit load secrets to people if he finds out Sasuke joined the wrong side.

It would be easier to explain that Mangekyou can be unlocked without killing anyone if only you would have pointed out Kakashi.

Yeah you guys are right. I confused the one panel of Madara explaining the sealing of Orochimaru with the awakening of Sasuke's mangekyou all to be the same.

Shisui is dead, and thus far only a super tramatic experience appears to be needed to activate mangekyo, akin to super seiyan mode (here we go again!).

It's probably just caused from loss. Gotta lose someone close, probably doesn't matter how. But killing them would sure speed up the process.

Btw, does anyone other than me believe that Hidan might still be alive. I've had a crazy theory about him still being alive for a while now. :< He hasn't been revived by edo tensei yet, and we've seen an akatsuki lineup. I mean, I understand Jiraiya being impossible to collect...but Hidan? :s

He can starve to death according to one of the data books. He's been in that hole Shikamaru put him in for a while now, so he's probably long gone. Even if he were alive he was only a head.

Kinda funny, Hidan kinda loses his one major unique ability by Edo Tensei anyhow because he already can't die (by normal means) simply by being revived by it.
I'm assuming Kishimoto isn't a big fan of Xzibit.

If you remember Itatchi gave Sasuke the black fire to protect himself from Madara. So at the same time he might have put his blood on sasuke face and died because it would register to sasuke eye's that he killed his brother thus unlocking hax eyes v2.

For some reason I always thought Itachi transferred some of his eye powers when he touched Sasuke's forehead which led to it triggering when he saw Madara and, since forth allowing Sasuke to use it.

The fire breaks out whenever Sasuke see's Madara's face without the mask on.

The power he gave Naruto could be the same but it may only active whenever Naruto is attacked by the sharrigan.

So Sasuke's eyes actually never activated from Itachi's death, but was activated by Itachi himself, no?

But then again, wtf Itachi wasn't close to Sasuke I thought it was Naruto?

And as to Kakashi awakening his... maybe it was Rin's death? Ah the joy of theories.
