I dunno, Itachi seemed to have no problem blocking it. With a Kunai no less.

Is that due more to him combining it with Lightning nature, rather than the sword itself?

As for not cremating it.. yeah, that part is baffling, but maybe there's some people in the village that want to keep their bodies around for their own purposes, who might make a point of 'heeeyy let's keep that one around', or such.

Went through the chapter with notepad open to try and help explain things for people who are confused

People brought back to life (left to right page 3):
Suikazan Fuguki = Great: Sharkskin [Kisame had the sword, now it's with Bee? I forgot.]
Akebino Jinin = Blunt: Helmsplitter
Hohzuki Mangetsu = Leader [Kept the swords that weren't passed down?]
Zabuza Momochi = Sever: Great Beheader [Already had the sword]
Munashi Jinpachi = Blast: Splash
Ringo Ameyuri = Bolt: Fang
Kuriarare Kushimaru = Long: Threading Needle

So, besides Samehada the only missing sword is the Twinsword Hiramekarei, which was passed down to/stolen by Choujirou.

There were 7 swords on the summoning scroll and only 4 were summoned. Samehada is with Bee, the Twinsword was stolen and whatever sword Mangetsu was supposed to have is missing. I seem to remember reading sometime earlier that that sword lies at the bottom of the ocean. So there's 2 missing swords; Mangetsu's supposed sword and the stolen one. I'm guessing "Great" is Samehada; which leaves Sever and Twin as the two yet-to-be-introduced swords that Sasuke and co. will probably find and use.

All 7 swords are accounted for in the naruto universe. We have the four that were just summoned by Mangetsu. Blunt, Blast, Bolt, and Long. Then there's Sever which Zabuza already had prior to the summoning. Now remember Choujirou, the kid who fought Mangetsu's little brother(The guy who was with Sasuke) earlier- he has the Twinsword. And then the Greatsword Samehada is with Bee. That's all 7 swords.

Eh, forgot about the DNA thing, mostly because I like to pretend they never said it because it doesn't make sense. Because like it's been said, if a dead ninja body is such a liability, especially if it's a high class ninja with a lot of info, why would they not protect the bodies better or just cremate them which you would have to be stupid not to do. I also don't see how he could have gotten the blood of Sasori and Dedara. Sasori had no blood and Dedara blew himself to nothing. and I don't buy that Kabuto or Orochimaru acquired his blood prior somehow.

Just stop.... All they need is DNA, DNA could be hair, skin, blood, semen, etc. You're trying to disprove this too hard. Orochimaru has been around for a long time and had many labs, he's probably had this all stocked up in some of these labs that Kabuto also had access to. You're acting as if he could already have had some of the DNA needed on hand.

Not like Kabuto was masquerading as a controlled puppet of Sasori's for years, who happened to be Deidara's partner giving him an opportunity somewhere to get a piece of hair of whatever. You're trying too hard to disprove this.

It seems like an underrated ability though, at least compared to the others.
If some guy can break your sword, odds are the sword still wont help you out all that much. Not that it didn't work out fine in this situation.
But yeah, it would have been a hard sell if it did have a great offensive power that Zabuza just didn't use against his 1st fight with Kakashi.

I think it fits really because it fits the whole "demon" thing that Zabuza had going for him. A demon, who silently attacks from the cover of an unending and zero visibility mist, with a sword that eats the blood of his victims and is eternally razor sharp sounds pretty damn scary to me man.

Wait what? Since when did they say any of the swords were stolen or at the bottom of the ocean? The way I saw it was

Sever: Zabuza's sword (was already with him so no need to summon it)
Great: Kisame's sword (with Bee now so can't summon)
Twin: Choujirou's sword (was taught how to use the sword and passed down too him according to Sharkboy and therefore can not be summoned.)

Then there are the five swords that were summoned. So what's there to be confused aboot?

Sasuke used the sword once against itachi, and that was during an illusion, so I don't think it really mattered. After that, I don't know what happened to the sword, honestly I'm guessing he threw it away cause I have not seen him with it at all; unless I just wasn't paying enough attention.

Sasuke's and Itachi's sword have nothing to do with the 7 swordsmen right?

Newp. Sasuke's sword isn't really that special since all he did was channel his chidori into his sword to make it hax and Itachi's sword was just something that got Orochimaru all wet.
