The Uchiha clan ancestor was the elder son of the Sage of the Six Paths.

He was born with the Sage's "eyes"; his powerful chakra and spiritual energy. He believed that force and strength were the key to peace.

This is probably why he has so much chakra in some fights...He has shown his limits in the fight with the 5 Kages though...If he didn't have the genius level intellect he has, then he'd lose easily against the Raikage...

Add to that in comparison to Kakashi, the sharingan is apparently pretty draining in general, so the Uchiha having some kind of naturally bigger chakra pool doesn't seem unreasonable.

I'm gonna go with 1/2 in battle, and 1/2 out. He learned the Shadow Clone and Mass Shadow Clone outside of battle (reread the first chapter, he tells Iruka about learning an awesome new move before he uses it against that Fodder ninja at the end). His transformation techs (like turning in pebbles and rocks against Pein in the end there) he learned outside of battle, Fuuton Rasenshuriken he learned outside, Sage Mode, the completed 9-tails mode, all learned outside of battle.

In battle/verge of death/etc, he mastered Rasengan, Summoning, his Uzumaki combo (which he thought of only after seeing Lion's Barrage and then proceeded to copy and use it against Kiba), whatelse? I can't really think of anything really, his arsenal is pretty weak >_>

It's been mentioned a couple times in the manga that the Sharingan is only so draining on Kakashi because it's transplanted. While I agree that Sasuke does seem to have limitless chakra all of a sudden, it's always been established that the amount of chakra required for an Uchiha to sustain it is pretty much insignificant. That's why Itachi had his on fulltime, it was mentioned in a couple chapters that his mastery over it was so extreme that he didn't expend hardly any chakra on it.

I think a lot of the idea of it being draining comes from the fact that Kakashi is the only one that talks about that side of it, but it really isn't for Sasuke/Itachi/etc.

Yeah, Naruto is the antithesis of Sasuke, which was done on extreme purpose I can only assume.
Naruto was hated as a kid, had to work and train hard for everything, never had any doubts in what he believed in, put his life on the line to protect people, everyone grew to love him.
Sasuke was loved as a kid, had just about everything handed to him, only driven by vengance, didn't care who he had to hurt or kill to accomplish his goal, everyone grew to hate him.
I also assumed I just pointed out the obvious.

and if you were to compare the sharingan draining chakra from Kakashi, it's been said that the sharingan drains more chakra from people who aren't Uchiha.

Should have typed more coherently from the start, my bad. He learns a lot outside of battle, but it's not until he's in a heated one where he uses his learned abilities effectively.

Personally I wish Naruto would revert to tricks and fooling people during battle (or even more Sage Mode fighting), but it seems his next fights in the manga will go the way of epic grand scale drama fighting ala Bleach. Ah well.
