i must have missed something. i took the whole conversation as kyuubi's last ditch effort to save himself. in the past if naruto was was in over his head, getting curb stomped, kyuubi would just flood naruto with his chakra so he wouldnt die. In narutos current stage, the kyuubi can't manipulate naruto the way he used to.

not so much the lets be friends, kyuubi is just looking out for numero uno and talking it out is his only card he has, at least till naruto rages at the sight of his all his friends face planted into the ground or some shit.

Has it been said that the Kyuubi would cease to exist if Naruto died? I could have sworn it was the exact opposite which makes me seriously doubt the Kyuubi 'cares' even the slightest what Naruto does. The reason he 'lends' Naruto his power is to potentially take over his body, which is only possible when Naruto is raged/weakened from a prolonged battle. This is why people freak the fuck out when he's berserking and reaching 8+ tails, it means he's very close to allowing the full Kyuubi to come out and replace Naruto entirely.

That having been said, Kyuubi talking to Naruto shows that he wants to level with Naruto, is actually starting to respect him and simply believes working together with him to some extent is in his best interest, that's it. He's frustrated because he acknowledges Naruto's strength but wants to eliminate his foolish optimism. Personally the shonen hero optimism is GAR and all but I really want some more important people to die so Naruto can begin to understand. Jiraiya is not enough obviously.

Nah, with Naruto's mom she said she was going to drag the kyuubi into her and kill herself and said something like 'it will be a while before he can come back'. So it wouldn't kill the kyuubi but it would slow it down somewhat.

My guess is that it WOULD kill the Kyuubi and here's why: The Kyuubi was sealed by the shinigami seal method, so technically he should be dead, right? But they seal it inside someone to gain their power. If Naruto dies, the seal should still be in effect and kill off the Kyuubi via the Shinigami taking him. The only methods of the Kyuubi getting out are if Naruto himself releases the seal, the seal weakens through Naruto giving in to the Fox's chakra, or someone undoing the seal in some manner. And the Kyuubi probably wants them to happen in that order, I doubt he wants to get out of Naruto just to meet Madara, lol.

Yeah, Naruto still needs to find that happy medium. In the beginning of the series, he was all hardcore, forging friendships through a proper asswhipping. After Jiraiya and Nagato's deaths he gained a great deal more empathy regarding the troubles plaguing the world, but that empathy softened him overmuch, such that he didn't even earn the Raikage's respect.

He's gotta reach the understanding that empathy and a passion for peace has to be shored up with strength, if he's gonna end the war on his terms.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that if the kyuubi dies along with naruto, after awhile he would just reappear without a host. Which is one of the reasons the kyuubi was sealed within naruto.

Do you think that Sauske, or even Madara, will be able to invade Naruto's mind and suppress the fox's chakra that Naruto is now using once again? Has it been stated somewhere that this won't be possible in this new 'mode'?

I wouldn't put it past Kishi to have Sasuke do some stupid shit like that against Naruto in an epic final battle so he doesn't get curb-stomped in two seconds. Sage mode is still boss and it's better "explainable?" I guess when it comes to challenge/being challenged by OP modes.

Nah, if Sasuke can do that, Naruto will just go back to awesome fox mode, close his eyes and rely purely on chakra sensing to fight back. He'll be immune from the sharingans.

I think this was because Itachi was just really talented at Genjutsu as is, and was about to cast many that weren't Sharingan based. It's been a LOOONG time since I read those Itachi+Kisame vs Guy+Asuma+Kurenai+Kakashi fight chapters.

Apologies in advance for the awkward wording but..

This was when Itachi, Kakashi, Sakura, and Chiyo ran into the "30% Itachi clone" during the save Gaara arc. The impression I got was that Itachi caught Naruto in the Mangekyo by reflecting the genjutsu off his ring -- i.e. Naruto wasn't looking directly in Itachi's eyes, but he was looking in the direction/area of the ring (to the point where Itachi could see Naruto's face/eyes reflected off the surface?) and took advantage of it that way.
