No it wasn't, it was explained that if he used shadow clones, the fox would drain his chakra faster and he'd die. Then like, the next time we see him in action he's all KAGE BUNSHIN and we're thinking "...wtf why isn't he dead?". You're left to assume that him telling the fox to "stfu" in that one chapter pretty much opened him up to be able to do what he's been doing this whole time, but nothing was exactly explained and we had no real reason to think the fox was gonna cooperate with naruto until Real Madara shows up and the fox basically shits the bed and starts helping Naruto do some real shit.

Let me rephrase. It was explained well enough for people who know how to perform cognitive functions. I apologize for forgetting that there exists a group of people who require information to be spoon-fed to them by the mangaka.

I don't know about that one. The whole explanation was made to be a big deal and then next thing you know Naruto with 9-Tails chakra mode spams the shit out of kage bunshins strong enough to hold their own against Kage-level opponents. Of course everyone is going to "wat?". Not that it matters now anyways but it's absolutely no fault of anyones to wonder what the fuck was going on with the clones.

especially since ever since the beginning of the series until just when naruto was training with Killer B to pacify 9-tails, the 9-tails has taken every chance to take full control of Naruto.

Yet throughout the entire manga we see the fox gradually warming up to Naruto. When he was in situations where he would be killed if the fox didn't give him his chakra, what did the fox do? Give him his chakra. We see the fox trying to taint Naruto, to make him dark, to corrupt him, but if the fox just wanted to kill Naruto he would have let him die long ago.

Bee/Hachibi warns Naruto not to make shadow clones at all since he would most likely die very quickly with the fox stealing his chakra x amount of times. He then goes ahead and uses Tajuu Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. Tajuu, not normal, Tajuu. If the fox was still pulling his chakra he would have died incredibly quick. The whole point of the inner monologue with the fox was to show that he was starting to 'change'. Looking back at the chapters it seems that the fox even flashes back to the moments I mentioned above.

It was obvious if you actually read the chapters and remember what happened more than 10 chapters ago.

Idk, it seemed pretty obvious to me as well. I dont remember exactly what happened, but it was something like he talked to the fox and said they needed to work together to get this shit done, maybe ill look through the past 20 chapters later today to find it.

We all had this debate a few pages back too lol, although it seemed it was more 50/50 seeing both sides last time lol.

That still isn't the problem, the problem was they built up Naruto not being able to Kage Bunshin in fox mode so heavily, and it never even mattered because the first chance he had to kage bunshin, he did it. It's confusing because they made it seem like it was supposed to be a big deal, not because the fox all of a sudden is a half way decent dude.

He had been warming up to Naruto before that but yeah, I think Madara is the straw that broke the camels back as much as the Kyuubi hates that fact.

Did they really make it that big of a deal? I only remember like 1 or 2 panels discussing it. But this is what always happens when they introduce some impossible task for Naruto.

Noone has ever been able to combine Rasengan with an element? Naruto's got that shit down in a few days.
Fox is stopping him from using sage mode on the go? Clones fixed that problem a panel after it happened.

Naruto progressing faster than seems reasonable has been part of the manga since as early as I can remember. Its one of the reasons Sasuke was always so pissy around him.

Right, but in all those other times we're shown something in between that has him "solving" the impossible problem. So it's:
rasengan with element is impossible > naruto trains for several days > rasenshuriken now possible

then it was:
it's impossible to gather nature energy when fighting > naruto realizes he can use a clone to gather that energy for him > now he can gather nature energy while fighting

with the fox, it was:
dont make shadow clones while using fox chakra you'll be fucked > naruto makes a dozen shadow clones with fox chakra, is fine

they completely skipped that middle step. I get that readers shouldn't need everything spelled out to them, but when the precedent has been set so many times before and we're shown that middle step, it just comes off as the author being contradictory, not as "be a smart reader, you should know this by now." I think that's what people are saying.
