That sounds to me like he was Sasoris bitch from the beginning, only joining up with orochimaru after the fact. But im going off anime translation, maybe the manga has something different.

The chapter which reveals Kabuto's a spy and the chapter after that make no inclination as to who he served first.

all this goes against the chuunin exam too, where no one knew of kabutos existence, and found it strange that some one has failed the exam 20 (or maybe it was 10) times. Kakashi picked up on it, and confronted him in the hospital where sasuke was recovering.

It was stated that he avoided being noticed because he had always dropped out before people took notice of who attended. Sure, a few may have recognized him from exams earlier, but maybe they just thought he was a shitty ninja but didn't want to give up. He never caused any trouble before hand after all. He was just a bit more bold during these exams because of Sasuke.


The only thing I found out of place with this whole thing, but it hasn't been fully explained yet, is how Danzo lost track of him.
According to this he was a Konoha black ops anbu spy and did missions for Konoha. Also most likely how Orochimaru came to know of him. His "Mother" and no one else seemed to not remember who he was and at the time I assumed it was because Danzo used his sharingan hax to make them forget stuff but maybe it was somebody else because then how would have Danzo forgotten about Kabuto?

well I don't think kabuto ever made it into the bingo book. if he did then how could he have been the "ultimate spy" and could just toss his name around with no recognition? also if danzo let a known traitor enter the exams multiple times... presumably they would have run at least a shallow background check on the people entering. I can see another could tires ninja being able to infiltrate, but a spy you trained and raised up and used only to get betrayed by or cut loose?

He was only the ultimate spy for as long as he was working for Danzo. We knew him only from when he was working for orochimaru, after he defected from the nation. You're thinking when he was young (teens), I'm talking his adult years.

Enter plot-kai. At best, we're led to assume Danzo knew, and didnt give a fuck, which makes sense if Root recruited him and trained him as a spy; the rest of the village wouldn't recognize him as a person walking around town. Remember during the sand attack arc, when Danzo told Root to stay back and let them destroy the village so he could come in during it's reconstruction? That lends credence to this thinking.

Also, we're also told Orochimaru worked together with Danzo on many occasions, even after Orochimaru's ousting. Forget who mentioned it, but it was made pretty clear Danzo had his hands everywhere all in an attempt to let the bad guys destroy just enough before swooping in and saving the day.

The whole Orochimaru-Danzo-Kabuto relationship began to be a huge clusterfuck once Danzo's sharingarm came into play with the whole "Orochi helped develop it." Where Sasori fits into all this is something I doubt even Kishi knows.

There are no issues with continuity, we have a small history on Kabuto's childhood and early adult life. Nothing relating to the story has been compromised.

^ This. Plus, you saw how Kabuto aged in those three panels. Its possible that he could have been a spy during any of those time-periods. I personally feel that he would only have become a spy for him after he had thrown away the last of whatever loyalty he had towards people, but who is to say he even accepts Oro's proposal at this point? He could reject Oro now, continue as a spy, eventually become brainwashed by Sasori, get "rescued" by Oro, then bond with Oro, seeing how Oro was the only person who came for him twice of his own volition, or something bromancey and campy like that.

Honestly, I hate trying to fill in for the writers with Shonen. Its all so elementary, plot-wise, but goddamn if the spells and moves aren't awesome.

Oh please. Kishi is no different then Kubo, both suck at continuity. Only difference is that Kishi is able to fill in his characters and history through Zelda style time-lines where things are loosely affiliated with one another.

Nah, she's still alive. Whiney whores like Hinamori are practically immortal in Bleach, while confirmed badasses (Gin, Starrk, Grimmjow) get killed by cheap pot shots. To summarise; If you're interesting, you're doomed. Yes, I'm still bitter Kubo killed off the only characters in the series I wanted to see more of, and didn't even give them a decent death.

I mean, Yoruichi is the shit, but otherwise what female characters have done anything of merit? For the most part they're pretty useless. Not Naruto female character level of useless, but pretty close.

The whole issue of power creep and plot convenienced conflicts complicates the issue of deciding a character's worth, especially women. Aside from Hinamori and her Aizen fetish, I'd say most of the Bleach shinigami woman have been fairly level-headed and at least seemingly capable fighters, they just get cheesed by the power level game and forced plot progression. For Rangiku's fights involving arrancar, she was first limited by the seal imposed on higher ranks and the next went 3v1 until Hinamori showed up. Then she went and got screwed by Allons, just like Aizen screwed Halibel. Honestly, I feel like Rangiku deserves the distinction of captain level powers before someone like Ikkaku, who has his own ego/moral issues that cost him a critical fight. And this isn't just me liking her because of some epic tits. Some may argue her shikai is just Byakuya-lite, but that's something that could be remedied with bankai where even Byakuya's is just lolmoreblades.

My main problem with Yoruichi is we're led to believe she's really, really good, but her fight with Soi Fon pretty much had them on equal terms martially until she pulled out her higher mastery of Shunko. And if she's as good as she is now, what happens if she whips out a zanpakuto? I'd think the Aizen fight would've been the place to do that, but Kubo kept her to the footwear and ultimately useless. And even before that, just punching Yammy apparently bruised her a bit. So I dunno, she's kinda ceilinged alongside Soi Fon in my eyes until she's given some actual progression.
